Biography

Overview: This bold young dragon is the spitting image of his father. Ever since he hatched he was following Elder around learning from him. At first, Elder found it annoying, but he grew to love the hatching's spirit. Now, Zeta has taken charge of the clan as the older generation retires.

Department: Management

Job Title: Majority Shareholder

Residence: Level 0 Private Cave

Fun Fact: Despite being more organized and efficient than his father, he has softened the strict work orders his father had a repute for.

Quote: "We need some new innovations to jump start this clan! We can't be getting stagnant now!"

Story:
The Spire
Zeta woke on a beautiful day. He stepped out of his cave into the usual cloudy skies and distant booming thunder. He breathed in the sights and smells. What a beautiful day with the smell of copper and sulfur in the air.
Today was going to be a great day, they had been working for years on this special project. It had taken long hours, intense work, and more than a few revisions, but today they'd finally do it. They were going to raise the spire.
It all started with the extra cables out in the desert, they were creating their own power station, then connecting to the main network under the Tempest spire. They then had to construct the massive spire itself, with all the intricate wires and circuits inside to make it function efficiently. All that was left was to raise the spire from its resting place into its place and let the power flow.
It would be a hard job, but they could do it.
"Good morning father, is everything ready?"
Elder grumbled as he reviewed the papers from Impetus and glanced back and forth to the spire.
"In theory, but we need more workers to arrive before we can begin preparations. I want you ready to cover any unexpected problems because believe me, there will be problems."
"Yes sir!"
Zeta flew down from the mesa where his father would be shouting directions to the ground teams besides the spire. The huge construct was laid on its side where it was easier to build, but it needed to end p in the socket where it would connect to wires below.
He double checked everything, spire seemed completely intact, wires sealed, ropes solid, and by sticking his head over the edge of the massive hole he saw all the connections in the socket were prepared to receive the spire.
They would need all hands on deck, even Iota's group who had been focusing on their usual work instead of this special project. At least those two were getting along now.
There was nothing more he could do, so it surely would be a grand day! There was even a hint of static in the air promising a storm later, but they should be done by then.
After about an hour more of gathering the crew and assigning specific instructions, the process finally began.
Zeta took a place on one of the ropes pulling up along with the strongest fliers, while the others gathered at the base ready to push up. Elder shouted the commands.
"Taughten the lines!"
The flying dragons tightened the lines but didn't start lifting yet.
"Brace on the bottom!"
The lifting dragons shouldered the weight.
"Remove the stand!"
The stands under the spire were removed and the lifting dragons groaned as they began shouldering the weight.
"Lift!"
With his words echoing in the air, the entire clan heaved together. Loud groans and strains could be heard. It went up at a seemingly infinitely slow pace, but they were definitely going up.
"Heave!" Elder called, but this time he joined the lifters at the very top of the spire who were now flying to reach the spire's climbing tip.
They were going to do it!
Just as he thought this, a disaster struck. The roped started chaffing. The sharp tip had weakened the rope as they had been lifting, and as the first rope snapped, the weight on the others increased. The ropes snapped quickly and the spire began falling back onto the lifting dragons.
No! His father had specifically instructed him to protect against a disaster like this!
"To the lifting edge!" Zeta called.
They had too much strain on them to respond, but now as each rope snapped, the dragon would go to the other side and push with those dragons. Eventually, Zeta's snapped and he flew right by his father.
The spire slowed it's decent, and began raising again.
"For the Stormcatcher!" Zeta cried as they passed the halfway point.
"Hu-rah!" they responded as the spire shifted into place, but just as the dragons began crying for joy the spire tilted the other way.
"Hurry, it must not fall!"
The clan rushed to the other side and heaved.
Zeta worried though, wouldn't it just happen again?
Then he got an idea.
As they approached the top, weary dragons moaned with effort.
Zeta called, "Father, Savy, Omega, help me support it!"
As the Spire again fell into its socket The four-strong Guardians braced it and it stood still in its place.
Elder now called, "Riveters, quick!"
The little fae, skydancers, and even a few mirrors flashed out led by Azzul and Copo to secure it to its base.
Elder roared in joy as it was finished and all the tired dragons joined. Elder flew to the top and beckoned Zeta to join him.
"Today, we have reached a new stage for this clan, we have joined the lightning farm!"
The crowd roared in excitement at Elder's words.
"We are mighty and cunning! We are intelligent and bold! We are Lightning!"
The clan cheered again.
"We the Shocking and Venerable, have a lot to be proud of in our past, but we cannot linger there, it is not the lightning way, we must move forward! I am proud to announce that my heir in training will be my son, Zeta, and for now on we will be addressing you from right here. But now, as they say..."
"Get back to work!" the crowd roared and each began slinking away one by one each to their own daily task. Whew, all this excitement and it wasn't even noon yet.
They finalized their papers and verified connections. The storm later that day confirmed that their own mega spire was working. In the coming weeks more and more spires would be built around this spire, but none near the same massive size and power.
