♛ HISTORY
Brasmere Silvertongue, a handsome and refined individual who resided in the upper town of the Z'Arduani, was elected king after the retirement of Queen Charis. His soothing tone and graceful mannerisms enraptured the kingdom from the day he first settled there, making him many fast friends and adoring fans. His alluring nature made him an obvious candidate for the popular vote when the queen stepped down from her position. It seemed almost like a lucky coincidence, or perhaps a miracle, that he arrived so soon before the vacancy appeared. When he was elected there was no opposition from the public or from his co-leader, King Altan. It was almost too easy.

The kingdom ran on a two-leader system; one seat on the throne was filled by an heir of the previous ruler's choosing, usually from the Redcourt family line, and the other was chosen by election. Brasmere, however, did not want to be a co-ruler, just one branch of a many-limbed tree. No, Brasmere wanted to rule and rule alone. He wanted to be the only head who wore the crown.

Perhaps it was his plan all along, to worm his way up the social ladder of the kingdom and lie his way to the throne. No one could tell what was genuine and what was facade. What remained clear, though, was that there was dissent between the two kings as Altan grew suspicious of Brasmere's underhanded dealings with shady drakes and cool-smiled sneaking around the castle late at night.

Eventually Brasmere grew more and more frustrated with Altan's constant prying, a relentless wrench in his plans to gain power. Over several months there was a series of attempts to undermine Altan's credibility, starting with rumors spread by a few treasure-hungry Pearlcatchers and escalating into blatant calls against his judgement in the kingdom's bi-weekly town forums. Altan was shocked at the dissatisfaction of his leadership from newcomers and did everything he could to appease them, but little did he know there was no appeasement for an actor paid in wealthy sums. Brasmere, on the other hand, could not hide his satisfaction at the second king's distress.

In time, all good things must come to an end. Riches beyond measure, access to the most restricted knowledge in all the world's greatest libraries, ties to other countries and kingdoms he could bend to his will, all ripped from his claws just as quickly as he had acquired it. One of Altan's informants had overheard a conversation between Brasmere and a seedy politician from an outside kingdom; Brasmere had gotten cocky and, frankly, a little loose-lipped after his third glass of wine.

"He won't suspect a thing," he chuckled, leaning in close. "And of course, once it's over and I am the sole king of the Z'Arduani, you'll have your cut of territory and exports. All you have to do is pull your weight."

Those were the words that would undo him. The plan was to be executed in only a few days, at the Fall Equinox Feast. The poison would drive Altan mad, slowly at first, then in rapid procession. He would become increasingly paranoid and feeble, and in a few weeks' time it would be easy to smother the drake in his own bed linens. No one would suspect a thing. If he wasn't cast out by the commonwealth in his delirium over the course of the infection, an "unfortunate accident" was all that stood between Brasmere and the throne.

That and his own unfortunate ego.

The day of the feast finally arrived, but Altan did not emerge from his chambers. A nurse told Brasmere that he was feeling under the weather and wished to be left alone with the request that Brasmere host the feast in his absence. The Coatl obliged to save face, though he grew anxious at the subversion of his plan. At some point, he ducked away from the crowd of townsfolk to seek out his assassin to guide the drake back to Altan's chambers. Little did he realize that a small trio of Faes had gathered in the alleyway to witness him, shrouded in darkness.

When the assassin slipped into Altan's chambers, preparing to pour the vial of liquid into his maw as he slept, Altan leapt from his bed and overpowered the dragon with a might unlike anyone had ever seen from him before. He called upon his guards, who dragged the assassin from his chambers and down to the city below, where the feast was still being held. It was there that Altan confronted Brasmere, backed by his guard and his witnesses, to announce to the entire kingdom that his plan had been foiled.

Immediately Brasmere was arrested, stripped of his crown, and after a short trial was banished from the Z'Arduani kingdom. In fury, disappointment, and a deep-seated sense of failure instilled in him from his hatchday by an overzealous mother, Brasmere flew instinctively south, towards his home, his birthplace: the Southern Icefield.

♛ STORY
Flying recklessly, The only thing Brasmere had was the clothing on his back. There was a ship at the shores of the Windsinger's domain. Landing, he ran up to the captain who was about to put the ship to sea.
"SIR!" he took a deep breath calming himself "my good sir you are bound for the Icelands am I correct?"
The Mirror shot his head up looking back at the Coatl "This ship is yes, its the last one for the next month, What's your reason for travel?"
"My home was a threat to my safety good sir, I'm traveling back to my birthplace."

Looking over the man, the captain nodded with a sly smirk, "Sure, come aboard. Our destination is the kingdom of Dagrun." In a few quick beats, Brasmere and the captain were shaking hands. "though I do have one question, you were banished weren't you. A thief perhaps?"

With a moment of stunned silence, the mirror had his answer. "I'm not a criminal! I simply did what was necessary to get what I wanted, I just happened to fair this go around" As if they healed a silent understanding of one another both nodded in contentment. "Take shelter under the deck, the blizzard will be starting soon. Trust me when I say it's not the most pleasant experience when riding the seas."
