6th Generation Naomi
Naomi the Gatekeeper. A dragon of surreal power and existence. No one is certain of where she came from or who she was exactly, but many know of the reputation she has. Some whisper that she was a powerful sorceress who gambled with magic that eventually killed her. Others believe she was from another world, summoned by a foolhardy magician. Whatever her origins, she is a figure in many myths and one of Sornieth's greatest mysteries. What many dragons covet the most about her is that she bore children. Descendants of the fabled Gatekeeper walk among Sornieth's mortal dragons, harbouring power beyond comprehension. Some of these dragons are hunted down and killed, or granted lavish gifts in exchange for their mere presence. Similar to their ancestor, Naomi's many descendants are riddles in dragon skin. Unlike their great-great-great grandmother, Mischief isn't very impressive. Because of their distant relation to the Gatekeeper, their blood is rather diluted and they lack the strength Naomi would've boasted. Regardless, they still have abilities beyond that of normal dragons. Some doubt that Mischief is even Naomi's descendant at all. Mischief ignores those rumours. Mischief themselves is, as their name implies, mischievous: they enjoy jokes and good humour, and take pleasure in the brighter side of life. In the Velvet Circus, Mischief is the magician, creating fantastical illusions so wondrous one could almost feel the magicked rain on their face and touch the otherworldly beings flowing through the ring. In their free time, the soothsayer tells fortunes through palm reading and glass balls, charging a pretty penny for their work. Of course, real divining is difficult business, but Mischief's readings always appear to be accurate, almost eerily so... --- As Gilles's second-in-command, Mischief helps in managing the circus - finances, scheduling, planning trips, there isn't an aspect of the circus that they aren't involved in. Despite being thoroughly more powerful than Gilles, Mischief defers to her expertise. It's her judgement that they trust, particularly when deciding when to replace their current performers. The act of procuring said performers falls upon them alone. Though, now the question is: why them?
