As you enter a small, dark space away from the main lair, you catch a peek of a set of strange green wing tips. You notice nothing else in this space other than a lone dragon, his back faced toward you. He looks dirty, rugged, his skin broken almost... You listen, but hear nothing. Not a breath, not a voice, not a sound.
You step toward the stranger, but a flick of minty blue caches your eyes and your head tilts to writings on the wall. Words scrawled in a strange black substance with a... blue? ...perhaps shiny red? or both.. glistening highlight.
The lines scratched out in an erratic order read:

A feeling of great dread overcomes you as you read the last line and your eyes reconnect to the dragon before you. The scrappy fur upon his neck begins to shift slightly and you see his head slowly tilting, turning, perhaps to look at you.

Something begins to echo in your mind.
A voice? Where? Your own? His? Who?
It's speaking too fast. Is it in your head, or do you hear it softly aloud?
Is it a warning to you? Is it him?
It's clear now:
"Don't let him look at you."

"He can't see you, don't touch it, don't touch him, let him not feel-"
"He will see, don't let him see, can't let him see, he will look."
"Don't let him see, he will look, he can see, he will look, don't look at him-"
"HE WILL SEE YOU."
...
"Lies."
"They are lies, he can see your lies, his lies, he will lie-"
"He will see you, don't speak, he will lie and you will lie, he will see lies."
"Don't look at him. Lie to him. Lie to you. Touch him."
"Don't feel. Lie. Lie to him."
"He is a lie."
"Don't let him touch, don't let him lie, he is a lie, he's a lie, lie-"
The voices continuing, almost warning you, but seemingly banter with itself, or others...
As the voices go on, they soon all halt, and a few more lines are said:
"He is lies, he will feel, he will see, he is lies, he is lies, he-"
"He is nothing."
The word calls out in an echo. Perhaps in your mind, perhaps through the air to your ears.
A new voice appears, rapid in response, but soft in tone:
"I am."
