A war between two clans had filled the land with hatred, anxiety, and death. A Light clan claimed to be the embodiment of truth, humility, and the only ones who understood true peace. The Nature clan believed to be the same thing. Their fighting had resulted in decades of torturous battles and massacres. A silver lining did shine on one Light dragon. She had met a Nature dragon from the rival clan during a perimeter search. Originally, their hatred flared for each other, but they both refused to attack. HeartsFlame felt at peace in her soul when looking at him. She knew he felt the same. Yes, it was obvious to them both: they were each other's Charges. Their love blossomed soon after at the realization. Yet fate was doomed to rip them apart. Their clans hated each other, and if anyone found out, both of them would be slaughtered for treason. They met in secret, meeting in the Shadow lands—the only true neutral land they could go to. Sadly, their clan members followed them, and discovered their secret. A horrible war between the clans soon broke out. The Light clan cried witchcraft, trapping their warrior in the wretched grips of the hideous and evil Gladekeeper. The Nature clan shouted poison, dooming their warrior to a life of servitude and torture. The couple fought viciously to escape and soon... HeartsFlame found herself injured and alone.

She wandered for months with her injuries becoming infected from Plague diseases. Eventually, she ended up collapsed in a cave, prepared to leave this world and go to whichever deity would accept her. Any deity, anyone but the Lightweaver. As her injuries began to take her life, she was found by her Charge. LovesStrength cared for her, and using the magic he had learned to use in the Ashfall Waste, he rebuilt her body out of metal and fire. Once HeartsFlame came to, overjoyed at her lover's return, they fled to the Wrymwound to escape their hate filled clans. Sadly, they became lost. No clans were around them, nowhere to get a map, and food was scarce. HeartsFlame was ready to give up, to abandon her own life in order to save LovesStrength. Then the Plaguebringer smiled down upon them both. A queen, leader of a clan, took them both in and healed them. Under the teachings of the queen, the couple learned how to survive in the desolate land. HeartsFlame then came up with the idea to repay the queen for her kindness. Her and her Charge made a blood oath with the clan. Together, they surpassed their mortal coils and became guardians of the clan grounds and of all the children born there. Under their protection, the children could never be harmed. Anyone seeking to take an egg or to harm a child would find themselves face-to-face with two angry, vicious, and loyal Guardians.
