Ilium

The leaves they rustle,
Always, always, always,
Moving.

The trees they shake,
Always, always, always,
Rustling.

The bark it splinters,
Always, always, always,
Shaking.

And the fae climbs,
Bark cracking beneath his claws,
His eyes always watching,
Seeing through the plants.

He speaks to them, Ilium,
The whisperer of plants.
He listens to them, Ilium,
The whisperer of plants.

Leaping through the branches,
Like a monkey, as he climbs.
Flying between the trunks,
Like a bird, as he flies.

This is a dragon who's mastered the forest,
Clever despite his eternal youth.
This is a dragon who darts where he pleases,
Small enough to go where no one else goes.

Ilium speaks to the trees and the bushes.
Ilium speeds high above the ground.
Ilium knows what no grown dragon ever has.
And that is the freedom,
Which only he knows.
