Biography

Agni: the Godless One, the Destroyer of Clans

As a young dragon, Agni was a blacksmith's apprentice in the Ashfall Waste, angered by the tyranny that a conquering clan of Lightning dragons had imposed on his small clan. Seeking a way to free his clan, Agni fled in the middle of the night and wandered the Ashfall Waste until he came to a deep chasm in the earth, whence a horrid voice spoke to him.

The voice belonged to a demon, offering Agni the power to free his clan. Agni agreed, but did not realize what the pact meant. Fused with the demon and his mind warped, Agni wielded his new powers over fire, great and terrible as they were, and freed his clan.

But he wasn't satisfied there, and abandoned his small clan to rampage across the lands with a band of marauders until he came across Die Bibliothek, a moderate and successful Light clan. He took over Die Bibliothek and established himself as its king.

Later, after the mysterious arson destruction of Die Bibliothek, Agni took the clan and resettled in the Abiding Boneyard, renaming them the Twisted Spires after the towering, bleached bones wherein the clan made their new home. He later burned this home down and relocated the clan to Wind territory, albeit no records remain of this, and only scant ones of their temporary settlement in the Crystal Pools on the coast of the Windswept Plateau following whatever happened to this third clan.

Not too long later, he took Vatiaschat as his lover, whom he jealously adores as he does all his possessions and would literally burn the world for if he so much as asks. The only reason he tolerated Vatiaschat's mate, Zeria, was because Vatiaschat had no romantic feelings for her, instead using her to have hatchlings.

When Zeria, furious with the death of her son at Agni's hands in the clan's traditional public execution, fled the clan without a goodbye to anyone, Agni tracked her down and killed her. Unbeknownst to Vatiaschat, one of the painted Skydancer skulls hanging in Agni's abode is his dear friend, whose happiness he continues to wish for to this day.

Eventually, a powerful magic-user–the Witch-King whose name has since been forgotten–entered the clan and rallied the others around him, and together they managed to create a pocket dimension into which they sealed Agni, ending his reign of terror for good . . . mostly. While it's illegal to create new depictions of Agni, and existing ones are destroyed or defaced (mostly the ears, eyes, and mouths), Agni can still perceive what happens around unmarred depictions of him, and cultists of him are still at large, seeking a way to bring him back.

Public opinion on Agni has shifted considerably as history of his awful deeds has faded in favor of his image as a self-made godking whose power has been compared to the eternal sun itself. While most clansfolk won't publicly admit to being an Agni worshiper, they often won't deny the fact if outright questioned.

Knows: several demonic languages, an extremely old Fire dialect of Common Draconic that probably doesn't exist even in records anymore, Miragnitic, Old Twisagnitic, Old Bibliotagnitic, Common Draconic, some other languages (most of which are old and probably considerably different or not in use)
