Biography
Oh, to live to love to see the beauty of this world! Art and seeing wonders wherei other dragons did not gave this dragon a reason to be. She had a quaint life, running an art shop in the outskirts of her village, but it brought Sulfur joy, and that's all that seemed to matter. But good things aren't destined to stick around. One brisk morning, Sulfur was out about collecting wood to carve. She came across a towering tree with perfect carving wood. It was unlike anything she'd ever seen, with branches the size of dragons! Perfect. she thought as she approached the tree. Now, you must keep in mind that Sulfur was an experienced wood carver, and had been collecting wood for years. She would never cut down a tree purely for personal gain. She would never dare disrupt an ecosystem or displace the countless creatures that were sure to call this great tree home. I'll take a branch that no animals are living on. thought Sulfur as she flew towards the tree. She carefully examined a branch, but saw a family of squirrels had made a nest there, so she moved on. Working her way down to the bottom of the tree, sulfur examined each possible carving branch, but found none without residents. She let out a huff of disappointment. I can't just abandon this tree. The wood is perfect! I need a branch. Just one. It's so full of animals one branch won't do anything to harm this forrest! she reasoned with herself. Her stomach fell as she picked off a branch, moving the family of birds that called it home aside. They let out pitiful squawks and chirps, just making Sulfur feel worse. When she had successfully sawed off the branch, she turned to return to town, but a chill like one hundred spiders clawed at her back. She felt unsettled, but brushed it off. That night as Sulfur returned to her shop, she carved a wonderful thing out of the wood she'd collected. It was a spirit. Sulfur didn't know where the inspiration had come from, but she was proud. I think I'll keep this instead of selling it tomorrow. Sulfur thought. As she rolled over on her sleeping ledge, she blew out her candle. The room was illuminated only by moonlight. Suddenly, sulfur heard a noise like a tree bending in the wind. A horrible noise of something about to break. About to snap and die. "You!" screeched a voice in the shadows. It was shrill, almost childlike. "Is it you who dared to disrespect me?" Sulfur was shocked. What was this...this...thing in her house! She scrambled to her feet, whirling towards the sound of the voice. "I mean you no harm," spoke Sulfur. She was terrified, but had always done well under pressure. She spoke clearly. "It's too late for that! You've disrupted my home! My friends! Do you know what you've done? Those little birds you moved, their mother and father couldn't find them. They're terrified for their children. You've broken them apart. They may never find their children again and I cannot help them as my magic does not give me a solid form. |
