The beginning of the letter is illegible scrawl, half-doodles and some shapes that might have been letters had the train of thought of whoever writing it had not trailed off, though it clears up shortly.

To our granddaughter who rests, Garden,

Your grandfather gave it his best attempt to write you himself, but being half in a prophecy as he tends to be these days, he didn't quite manage it. I think it shows how much he cares for you, however, that he tried.

I can't imagine Bracken spoke of us much. He never had quite the gift, and it is hard for my beloved Altwidus to connect to others in his natural state, and Bracken took it hard. The call of the Sea beckoned, and he answered. Altwidus also said you were much "like him", though I haven't been able to divine his meaning from that.

I have been able to find that this letter will find you sleeping, though I do hope that perchance you make wake long enough to read this. I hope to pass on my love as much as your Grandfather's, and his hope that you "Take courage, take heart". I have to wonder if he worries he's passed on his condition to you.

If so, I know that you may feel alone, and frightened. Because so did my beloved before I came to him.
You are a vibrant, beloved, and brave girl, and I hope you have someone by your side who knows it.
Dear Garden, you are part of a line of strong prophets and mages, and so it is only natural you go on to do great things.

Many of our clan pass on their regards, though they are quite befuddled as to why I am writing to a dragon I have never heard of before. No one will quite understand a prophetic vision, I suppose. I hope this finds you in good health, and that your clan treats you with the love you deserve.

Dearest Grandmother,

It feels strange to wake and find your letter. I keep reading it again and again, hoping to find meaning in its lovely words. I have a hard time remembering things these days, and it almost feels like a part of me isn't here...

My clan has been very hospitable to me and my husband ever since we arrived. I wish you could meet Plunge... Sometimes it seems he's the only one who understands me.

My father was a quiet one. I wish he would have told me about you... I wish he would have let me meet you. Maybe if I knew you and grandfather, I'd understand what happened to me all that time ago. I don't understand why I'm this way... There is much I don't know.

But your letter gives me comfort. My clan has been loyal and kind to me and my husband, and it feels good to know that so many care about me.

When I feel empty, I need to remember you and smile. Remembering your kindness will remind me of everyone else's.
