Seaglass, how's it like being the Water Spirit?
@gabssey
"It's actually pretty fun! Sometimes if I'm fast enough, I can turn myself into water and slip away unnoticed. Then I go out to sea for a little while and stretch my wings. It's not that I can't leave the clan much, it's just I need time away from other dragons y'know? It does get on my nerves sometimes though, sometimes when I'm excited I create water without me knowing and I splash someone by accident. Same with me being upset. And with that said, I need to go fishing." He grins at you before suddenly rushing out of the room.

As Divinus' youngest Councilwoman, being sent out to both neighboring and distant lands for diplomatic relations was starting to become a frequent occurrence. It seemed, she supposed, that all this was part of her mentor's plan on getting her steady on her own feet - to gain confidence and connections - now that she held one of the highest seats of power in the clan. Indeed, the assignment to the clan of Etched Shadows came as a welcome change from the blustry flats of the Windswept Plateu or the ozone-laiden atmosphere of the Shifting Expanse. Something long-forgetten disloged itself in her chest when she arrived, first breathing in the clear, crisp night air that tasted of secrets, subtrifuge, and childhood.

Water would always be where she belonged but she could not help the wave of nostalgia that washed over her upon seeing the familiar arches of the Sunportal.

But with the rememberence of the joys of her youth came crashing the reminders of why she had left and never returned. A frown marred her expression as she clenched her fist, stopping the slight tremor of her claw and she knew she would not be able to respectably face the clan's leaders in this state. So, to clear her thoughts, she receaded back to the one place where everything felt right: the Sea.

---

From above, the twilight's dwindling glow cast across the ocean's surface. Beneath the lapping waves, rays of light refracted and danced, kissing the face of the skydancer's upturned face as she took a deep breath, feeling the tides shift around her. Her moment of peace came to a slow halt, like silt drifting and settling to the bottom of the ocean, as the water carried with it a message of an approaching stranger.

This did not surprise her.

No, what surprised her is how he arrived.

It was as if he appeared out of nothing - like the sea had decided on a whim to solidify itself into the shiny plating and eligant sharpness of a wildclaw. She blinked dumbly, momentarily bewildered.

He didn't seem to notice her at first, too busy catching his breath while craning his neck in the direction opposite to her, searching for someone or something. As she regained her composure, she noticed that the water around him seemed to not only surround but bend into him, like the boarders between his body and the ocean were visual alone. An illusion. She could hear the sea in her ear, whispering its delight at his presence; a mother welcoming her child into her embrace.

How interesting, she thought, tapping her claw to her chin as she considered him.

Her shifting in position seemed to alert him to her presence and his gaze snapped to her. "Oh," he said, straightening up. "You must be the visitor!" He greeted cheerily, shooting her a megawatt grin. It was as bright as the sun reflecting off the waves of the ocean and she fought the sudden urge to avert her gaze lest she be blinded. Instead she cleared her throat, finding her voice.

"Yes, my name is Calipso," She returned her own small smile in greeting. "I'm the representative from Divinus." Tilting her head, she hummed as she gave him a onceover and she found that he was... pleasent to the eye to say the least. "And you are?"

"Seaglass," He introduced, eyes swimming with mirth. "The resident Water Spirit."

"Ah, that's wonderful! It's not often that I meet not just an acolyte of Tidecaller, but a child of the sea herself." He shrugged, amusement in his voice. "Well, it's just like everything else I guess: it comes with its highs and lows."

"You can say that again," She agreed, thinking on her own experience.

Then, with a jolt, she stood up straight as she remembered what state she'd first seem him in. "Oh wait! I'm sorry did you come out here for anything in particular?" She looked about at the rainbow of surrounding coral steadily glowing more bioluminescent, like the rest of the Tangled Woods' flora, as the dusk wore on. Guilt crashed into her. Had she just taken this dragon's secret hangout spot? "I'll get out of your hair now," She rushed. "I'm so sorry to have gotten in your way - you seemed like you were in the middle of something earlier."

"Oh no it's nothing like that!" Seaglass reassured, raising his claws in the water toward her as if that was physically stopping her from bolting. "No, don't worry about it! It's just sometimes I need to sneak away from everything and everyone else and just-"

"-have some peace and quiet for once?" She completed, her shoulders relaxing as she realized they were in similar positions. "To have some time with your own thoughts without all the extra noise? To be alone?"

His own guard seemed to drop at that, and he exaled slowly, an easy smile taking over his face. "Yeah... exactly." He confirmed softly. Calypso pursed her mouth and forced herself to look away when she found that she quite liked that expression on him. It reminded her of the glassy waters back home.

"Well if that's the case..." She trailed off, thinking for a second. Something in her mind seemed to be made up and after taking a steading breath she squared her shoulders towards him and cleared her throat. "I'm in the same situation so-- so--" Looking back up at him was a mistake. When he raised his brow towards her expectantly, amusement bubbling in his eyes she realized that oh no she'd never seen a shade that deep deep blue before how had she not noticed this earlier-- Tidelord and all the deities help her she prayed that he voice did not come out strangled.

"Would you mind if both we could both be here alone... together?"

A moment of silence before she heard an amused rumbling laughter that brought to mind the rolling thunder belonging to distant ocean storms. "I don't think that's how being alone works." He answered, humor dripping from his voice.

With how much effort it took for her to string those words together she could've hit him and she said as much.

"I'm messing with you! I'm messing with you." Shaking his head, he shot her one more teasing grin. "Okay, my real answer is--"
