Background ❧

Most Albino crows are raised with great care by loving parents, groomed to become a valuable asset to their society instead of a self-serving, aggressive and vain individual. Only Aimia’s parents were anything but loving or empathetic. Ruthless and ambitious, they pushed their offspring to their limits and beyond. Many left as soon as they had a chance, far earlier than most crows would leave the safety of their family. Aimia herself almost lost an eye to a mirror dragon she was supposed to infect and control. The sight in her right eye remained blurry, her body littered with scars but she survived. Even a failure is a valuable lessen to be learned, if one survives. This experience made Aimia even more cautious and she relies on cunning far more than on brute strength. She also thinks twice before she uses her innate abilities to subdue an enemy or gain an ally. Her early failure taught her to not rely on the powers of her viral strain too heavily.

If she chooses to infect another dragon, she almost always sends them to their death in a berserker like mindless rage, especially those that wronged her in any way. Aimia has no patience for the subtler uses of her viral strain. She prefers to be alone and has no use for companions of any sort. The possible exception is her familiar but he never talks back. Meddling into politics bores her. Living with other dragons overwhelms her. She hates to be confined by rules and social etiquette.

When she eventually left the nest, she wandered through the Scarred Wastelands for a while but decided to leave to find a place where her viral strain was less likely to fail. Not that it happened often, and she was never caught by surprise again like the first time, but the Plaguelands never really appealed to her anyways. In the Tangled Wood her pale plumage made her far too conspicuous for her liking, Dragonhome was home to ancient wyrms and other long-forgotten creatures more dangerous than anything she’d ever encountered before. Eventually, she turned her eyes on the lush forests of the Viridian Labyrinth and when she got there, decided to stay.

Unfortunately, the ancient forests were a place where a lone dragon did not have a great chance of survival. At least not for long. The woods not claimed by a Clan were home to vicious beasts and even more vicious beastclans. Often, retreat from a hunting ground was the only viable option. While her viral strain was potent enough to kill even the most powerful beast, often there were just too many of them. If she had had the ability of her lesser cousins, she might have taken over some beastclan to protect her but firstly she lacked that special ability and secondly their constant presence would have driven her mad.

Eventually, she decided to take up residence in the Forgotten Sanctuary. The Clan there was welcoming to dragons that preferred solitude to gregariousness. Of course, there was a price to pay, nothing in life is free. She was bound by oaths and rules to not harm another clan member and she had to contribute to the safety of the Forgotten Sanctuary. But in the end she decided it was a price worth paying as the benefits outweighed the costs.

Personality ❧

Aimia is a loner. She lacks empathy and does not appreciate the company of other dragons or even beastclan members. Vindictive and cruel, she greets friendliness with a snarl and unfriendliness with cunning retribution. Most dragons avoid her, few dare to work with her since no dragon in their right mind would ever trust her. But Aimia does not care for her reputation, she does what is expected of her and she does it well.

Traits ❧

hAYSNmb.pngxOCWlvxb.pngxHcm67Nc.pngxFTaQgc7.png

Viral Signature: Scarlet Brand

The dreaded scarlet brand--a contagion unique to the Albino Crow variant. Both the Effluvial (runes) line and the Lesser (peacock) line are able to apply markings on their victims that allow them to become more susceptible to the control of their wing-pheromones.

It leaves a distinctive mark that changes surrounding pigments to a bright red. This mark gives off the appearance that closely resembles that of a flower. Each "flower" is slightly different in variation, but consists of the same key component of a center core, presumably where the injury was inflicted and signals the virus' entry point.

Albino Crows often use this mark as either a one-sided "contract" of sorts to either keep unwilling dragons under its control, or as a ward to keep the dragons in question away from itself. It is delivered via a puncture from their claws.

Key differences to note: Albino Effluvial Crows (runes) are able to mark dragons and Albino Lesser Crows (peacock) are able to mark Beastclans and familiars. The effectiveness of either outside of their normal respective territories creates very mixed, and often unsatisfactory results not limited to outright death.

Wing Trait: Manipulation

An Albino Crow trait that acts in conjunction with the [Scarlet Brand] viral ability known to this variant. It allows the Albino Crow to influence their “marked” by releasing different varieties of pheromones.

Albino Effluvial Crows can only emit one type of pheromone at a time, but their reign is generally absolute over their marked victims. These pheromones can both be used as defensive or offensive measures.

Albino Lesser Crows can emit multiple types of pheromones and issue more complex, and perhaps even subtle commands. But it generally only really works well on the Beastclan and familiar type creatures.

Latent Trait I: Guided Accuracy

Aiming comes intuitively to them. They know where to strike and when. Of course, practice does help to make sure the hits land and nothing hits them in return; but they are otherwise instinctively guided to their opponent’s weaknesses and only limited by the extent of their physical abilities.

Once that barrier has been removed, however...

Latent Trait II: Appraising Eye

The individual is able to size up others--be it dragon or beast--in a predatory manner as to how best to make use of them. They can understand the potential of others and how they might best fit in a grand design somewhere.
