β The unknown races away from my harness to tame it, for my studies shall answer the queries of the masses! β Sideralis excitedly signed to a very confused Videl. Brief History βββββ Sideralis was born into the Divitae after many failed attempts from his parents, Alkena and Jupiter. Most of his brothers and sisters either were born dead or wandered off to never be found. Sideralis was their first hatchling that hatched okay! Alkena and Jupiter were thrilled, and they showered him with love. He was the first hatchling that the Divitae encountered as well, so he took some time for everyone to get familiar with, but the clan all raised him with love. However, they all showed their love differently than most as their intellectual coldness created a rather odd environment to raise him. Omega read him books, Ahu and Marble taught him to fight, Videl taught him table manners and how to negotiate, Alkena taught him how to hunt and calculate, Jupiter showed how to tinker, and etc. etc. It was about the time for him to start communicating with others, and everyone just knew that he would have a vast vocabulary as a result of a diverse clan talking to him each day. The clan patiently awaited the first chirp of words strung together, yet their waiting never came to an end. Sideralis was born with anarthria, a more severe form of dysarthria, due to complications at birth. Sideralis, in other words, had the inability to articulate speech. Most of the Divitae wanted throw him out after realizing this due to him being a "defect". Their reputation of a long line of intelligence was not going to be squandered by some hatchling who could not speak. However, Jupiter, Alkena, and a few others proved his worthiness to stay when they presented evidence his mind held knowledge beyond his years. They all agreed to let him stay in the clan as long as he continued to prove his worth. As he grew, so did his IQ. Sideralis became transfixed with alchemy, and he began to research the topic. Sideralis rapidly became more fascinated by his work, and he even published a few books pertaining to his research. They performed fairly well in the alchemist community, so he started to purchase exotic pets for himself because he always fancied the way he could relate to them. His adoration for his pets can be matched by few. Most, even his parents, think him odd, but he shrugs it off because he has his work to keep his mind as sharp as ever. βββββ About Sideralis βββββ Sideralis inherited his father's undying love for science. He's an absolute rambling mess when one brings up a topic he is studying currently. The Divitae assigned words to hand signals, and he uses the gestures to communicate. Sideralis has gotten quite good at the language they created for him, but when he becomes overexcited about a conversation pertaining to alchemy or something similar, his hands transform into a blurry mess as his eyes light up with joy. The others usually have to tell him to slow down, but Marble, not the brightest of the bunch, never tells him to slow down, for even if he did, she would be more confused than she was. She usually throws in a,"Wow, that sure is interesting,'' ever so often. Sideralis has yet to notice the confusion in her eyes. He is a dragon of longing for understanding. He wants to know why that leaf grows the way it does, or why that familiar evolved that way rather than like its cousins, or why that exploded. His face is almost always covered in ash from his failed alchemy experiments. At the moment, Sideralis is working on a potion for Omega that will display a scene in a book right before someone's eyes. He's using plants that makes one hallucinate, but it never reacts well with the muck and sludge. Sideralis, however, does take after his mother's ambitious nature. He is very ambitious, and will never take a failure as a no. He believes he always has to be proving his intellect or worthiness to stay, even though everyone has no problem with him representing the clan. His ambition has led him to the brink of madness with many sleepless nights to seek answers, but his mother always slips in a small dose of a sleeping toxin in his meals to force him to rest. Even though he is a total dork, he is aware of the Divitae's reputation and will fight to protect it. He displays a cold, unreadable character when met with newcomers in order to uphold said reputation; although, it is hard to contain himself when the conversation turns towards a subject favored by him. Videl is usually his translator, or he'll have a piece of paper to write his thoughts. Have I mentioned his undying adoration for his pets? He especially loves his reptilian friends. He knows that he is an odd specimen to behold to most, and as a result, not many understand him. That is why he turns to his companions. Just like Sideralis cannot communicate to dragon-kind very well, neither can his pets. He has spent weeks discovering what each of his pets' body language means, and he ended up being able to understand them. He doesn't consider his familiar, the silver ferret who he has nicknamed Moon-Dust or Dusty, a pet as much as he considers them a family member. The two have such a great bond that they can tell what the other is thinking just by a twitch of their tail. Granted, he loves all of his pets as much as they love him, but a familiar bond is just simply different. He loves to hang out with his buddies because he doesn't have to converse with them, and he can just use his body language just as they do. They cannot converse with dragons and Sideralis can relate to that. He is a very proper boy that uses an extensive vocabulary, like his mother, when gesturing. He doesn't long to talk, though there are frustrating moments, because he is happy the way he is. Sideralis has an understanding of the universe that his loved ones could not comprehend. All in all, he is my happy, strange son that has no sense of fashion, and I will love and spoil him. βββββ |
