Feldspar grew up in a clan devoted to the Earth Flight, and as such he expected himself to be sent to work as one of the exalted. However, as he grew up he gained an interest in archaeology, and left the lair to pursue his passion. After travelling around Dragonhome for a few years, he settled down in Caesura Canyon after giving the resident miner, Harp, some tips on how to safely excavate a particularly troublesome section of the canyon. He only meant to stay a few days, but they convinced him to continue aiding them in expanding the lair and collecting materials from the mines. He realized that doing so would allow him to safely unearth relics and fossils, and decided to stay, having also grown fond of Harp's company. The two of them later moved into the ranch he had been staying in temporarily, at the behest of the rancher after a a large section of the lair caved in, destroying some of her ranch and most of Harp's residence at the time. The three grew closer and they never moved back out.
