Born a trophimos, the Wolf of Sparta found Stentor had beaten even the best Spartan boys in the agōgē, and thus, took him in as his own after the presumed deaths of his daughter and son.

OUTFIT
Stentor [ACOd]
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
I don't rather like that misthios much. Neither the one who calls themself Deimos.

But pater is back. And Myrinne, too. That's what matters. I have to do him proud. I know he says he's trained me well and that I'll be a better leader than he was, but... something still nags me. Especially now that both of his children are back.

One causing both Athens and Sparta problems, and one causing me problems. No honor, either of them. Why do they even call me "little brother" anyway? I'm older than both of them. It's annoying. I'm the gods-damn commander of the Spartan army.

If I could get rid of them both, that'd make my life easier. They don't deserve to die in battle. They have no sense of honor or duty. Or what it means to be Spartan.

No. It'd distraught the both of them. A forlorn pater — and mater, I guess — is no good either. Is Myrinne my mater? I guess so. Legally, at least.

... Kassandra and Alexios do invite me to go sailing, which isn't bad. But the Adrestia is hardly a worthy ship. The open seas are a nice change to the battlefield, however. I appreciate their invitation.

Stentor might be the son of Nikolaos, the Wolf of Sparta, but that's just what the soldiers, citizens, and helots tell you.

Stentor grew up as a trophimos, but he snuck into the agōgē to train with the other boys. Of course, they tried kicking him out, since he was not Spartiate. But he had the resolve, and he kept showing up. He was a little older than some of the boys, but he proved to be very consistent with his training and caught up quickly, even surpassing most of them. Of course, the headmaster would then pit Stentor against the best Spartan boys, and even the few girls occasionally. He beat every single one of them, even the girl named Kassandra.

Sometimes, Brasidas, only a little older than Stentor, would come by and observe the agōgē boys. He'd watch how they'd train during the day, and the way they behaved in the syssitia with older teenagers and young soldiers. Even Stentor made Brasidas feel some sort of pride for him. He'd seek out the young Stentor and train him personally, and sometimes telling him as to what Spartan soldier life was like. The boy was fascinated; he wanted to fight with pride coursing through his veins, adrenaline powering his strength and defeating his enemies.

At around the age of fourteen, Stentor lost his parents. As trophimoi living on the outskirts of Sparta, they were vulnerable to bandits, invading soldiers, wild beasts, and destructive weather. This time, it was a bandit assault. They set fire to the fields, poisoned the water supply, and raided the homes. Many of his neighbors suffered as well. It was difficult for him to accept, a burning fury beginning to build deep within his chest. He wanted vengeance. He needed to. He wanted to prove to his parents that he could be as strong, as proud, as loyal as any other Spartan man. He wouldn't let his class define him.

From that day on, Brasidas chose to help raise Stentor for a while. He wasn't sure if he could adopt him, but at least he came by often enough to care for Stentor when he wasn't busy leading the Spartan army. With no family to go to, Stentor lived at the agōgē, and began hunting for himself. He enjoyed hand-to-hand combat and archery, but he took a particular liking to spears. He believed that the legendary spirit of Leonidas was in every spear, as it was his weapon of choice.

Brasidas described Stentor's performance to Nikolaos, the Wolf of Sparta, in great detail over many days. He was impressed by the boy, and wished to see him personally. The two of them went to the agōgē, and watched Stentor train. Nikolaos admired Stentor's resilience through his grieving, as he also had heard of the unfortunate news. He tended to be on his own most of the day, as most of the other boys disliked him for various reasons: his performance, his hardened, bittered disposition, his social status. Nikolaos felt sympathetic for the boy. He was still grieving over the loss of his daughter, Kassandra, his infant son, Alexios, and his wife, Myrinne... his entire family was shattered that day on Mount Taygetos.

Before Stentor joined the syssitia, Nikolaos formally consulted the ephors and Spartan kings about Stentor's adoption. Word had traveled to them about the orphan boy's skill, and felt that, perhaps, both Nikolaos and Stentor deserved a second chance. The least he could do is give him a home.

Following the adoption, both Nikolaos and Brasidas mentored Stentor privately, impressed by how quickly he learned strategies and combat maneuvers. He was stronger than they had expected, and Stentor came to enjoy the sport of pankration as well, surprisingly overwhelming the two men at times.

With being adopted by one of the most well-known commanders, Stentor now had to live up to his pater's reputation and pride. Fortunately for him, he had already gained the latter. Stentor was possibly all Nikolaos could have hoped for in a son, imagining if he would be what Alexios and Kassandra would have been like.

For now, Stentor leads the Spartan Army in Nikolaos' place, coming home to a reunited family, all alive as they have been, despite the past. It's not the perfect family, but it's more than what he could have possibly asked for, and so far, he at least tolerates his siblings. It could be worse.

As much as Kassandra and Alexios get on his nerves, he has come to deeply care for and respect them, as both siblings and strong, worthy fighters.
