Umbra

Umbra was once a beautiful Pearlcatcher with scales of the brightest yellow, most vibrant green and a body of grey and black. Gracia, Her beloved sister. was a guardian and was an avid gem collector. this gem was a cut above the rest and was her most prised possession. The gem was clear but it glowed a beautiful vibrant green and yellow when the two were together almost symbolising their bond was meant to be.

They wasn't biological sisters but their bond together was strong enough that they were literally inseparable! They did everything together, you never saw the two apart from one another. Umbra didn't know that her sister stole a few coins from the treasury and traded them for a beautiful feast for her on her birthday. She thought the bountiful meal was from the head chief.

One day, things went wrong. Someone had stolen Gracia's most beloved and prized gem. Umbra put herself to working out who the thief was. She found out that the clan's chief had stolen the gem. With this information, Umbra went to seek out her sister who was nowhere to be found. Umbra knew where she was and knew it was a trap. The chief had taken the gem to lure Gracia in and capture her which would lure Umbra in. She knew it was a trap and she also knew that it was for stealing the coins from the treasure. It was a very serious crime in the clan. Umbra knew what she had to do, trade her life in for Gracia's. However the chief didn't want that. They didn't want Umbra and killed Gracia as a lesson to Umbra and the lair that stealing wouldn't be tolerated.

Umbra was grief-stricken by the loss of her sister. Slowly she descended into madness... Blind with grief, anger, sadness and pain at the loss of her sister. She tried to cast a spell using the gem to bring her back and the spell backfired drastically. The spell reacted to her grief and madness and reflected the energy back at her. Her beautiful scales changed colour, The bright, vibrant green soured and turned a foul red. The yellow scales darkened and her black and grey striped body darkened. It dulled the beautiful, vibrant grey and black that was once there.
