They are rage, brutal, without mercy. But you... you will be worse.


On the floor of the crypt, there is a symbol.

A single, vertical line. Two slashes through it, one angled. Four gouges in the stone, at each corner of an invisible box; if they were once glyphs, they are now too worn away by time to make out. If you tilt your head and squint, the vertical lines and its slashes might perhaps resemble a sword.

The crypt is empty. Whatever it was meant for, whatever it held, it is gone now. It is hewn roughly out of stone; the Contagion's tendrils have crept through fissures in the rock, and the infection grows unconstrained. In another decade or two, the crypt might be buried in them. For now, the rock is still visible - as is the damage to it. Great gouges, carved by claws and weapons and other, stranger things. There was a battle here, long ago.

The crypt had a door, once. It lies facedown, outside of the crypt, shattered into fragments. There are great clawed gouges along where it once sat. You can almost see the movements of the creature that made it. How it had braced itself, how it had smashed into it - and how it had utterly destroyed the meter-thick rock that had sealed it within the crypt.

Whatever was here, whatever the crypt held, it is long gone.

And it is very angry about its imprisonment.
