Biography

Seriadne

Jasper
She was forged in flames, her birthright metalworking. She grew up learning how best to tend the flames, how to strike metal to form it, which metals were best for what. The flames cultivated her. They taught her to learn quickly and to learn well, for if you don’t, the flames are not forgiving. She learned how to be creative in her uses. A tool meant for one thing is used for fifty other things and never for the job it was intended for. She knows how to make and use more healing tools than the average dragon which has helped her in her later travels.

Her work ethic combined allowed her to finish tasks early, leaving most of her evenings free. Combined with mainly staying with her family and rarely traveling, she loved seeing what lived and thrived in her harsh lands. Seeing the bleach witches fluttering past forges. The speckled fire lilies that grew where even she hesitated to explore. Firecoilers swimming through lava. Her fascination and curiosity grew. She explored as much as she could of her small world. Going from magma vents to the largest volcanoes. She found much and learned much. Learned that leaving things be was usually best as she saw the natural flora and fauna interacting and thriving in a balance with each other. She tried her best to learn from her experiences, always wanting to be better.
One day, she decided it was time to leave. It was time to go beyond her scope of knowledge. There was more beyond the limits of her world that she wanted to learn about. She made plans with her clan for some provisions. Some food, some water. She set her affairs in order, closing off tabs with local food stores and finishing her remaining projects.

And she set off, off to discover the world, going where her wings will take her. Soaring over open oceans and over rivers. Clipping the tops of the trees occasionally when she forgets to keep herself alert. The night skies guide her to new places, but if you were to ask her how she knew where to fly she would just reply that the skies know best. The only places off limits are the places she could not land on. Her light feet carry her down every path. She searches and seeks for all that she can. Her strength allows her to wander the lands for as long as she can, picking up odds and ends as she goes. In this wide world, she never really knows what she will find but delights in every new discovery.

She loves finding new flora, finding new pretties (and uglies) that have yet to be known to her. She always has to resist picking them since she has learned that the best way to share this type of beauty and knowledge is through preservation. She looks at the intricate details of each petal. Looks at how it interacts with others of its own kind and with that not of its own. Is is one of the plants that is eaten by the herbivores and omnivores around it? Is it left alone and should she leave it alone?

And encountering fauna is always interesting for her as she never knows how they will react. Are they so used to dragonkind that they no longer spook at the sight of one? Are they still aggressive and will she leave more scraped and bruised that she started? She never knows what to expect from the fauna but she treats each with care and respect.
Should you care for safe passage through any land, she is there to guide you, whether you hire her or you happen to be travelling the same path. She’ll take you under her wings if your strength does not lend itself to defense or she will fight alongside you if you are a fighter. Don’t let her intellect deceive you to you. She has fought with and against the toughest of the tough and she’ll do it again. Her knowledge has enabled her to fight more efficiently. She will do what she can to keep you and your party safe. She is always willing to talk to others. Both to learn and share her knowledge. She will never turn down knowledge, whether it is what is best to eat in the area or how to craft gemworks. And should you care to learn of the things she has seen, she will impart on you what you want and care for. She’ll regale stories of the open waters, of the vast night skies. She’ll teach you what information she can on healing. She’ll answer why she isn’t using her hammer in its intended manner and tell you of other ways she uses it. And if you ask her why she takes time to do so, she’ll tell you this:
7NgPIAz.png Knowledge is not meant for one, it is meant for all. To keep all of the things I have learned to myself is selfish and benefits no one. When my time to explore has passed, if I have share nothing, where will that information go? If I am greedy with my knowledge, I have not done my best to better the world. But if I share what I do have, the world will be better for it, even if only in small ways.

Seriadne is both protector and defender, never shying away from what needs to be done. Born of flames, she wonders the world bringing the light and ingenuity that comes from being forged and forging.

Forest Warden

The forest is a dangerous place. Not because you might get lost (happens all the time) or because a beast might eat you (well you get hungry too!), but because of the plants. The Veridian Labyrinth is full of naughty plants and needs keepers and wardens to make it safe. Some plants need to be taught manners (like the Scarlet Munchers- they will just about eat anything without checking how clean it is), some plants need to be kept in line (Janustraps will sprawl out all over the place), and some plants need to be nurtured.

Seriadne is a warden. She hates it when she is called a gardener. She hates it more when dragons ignore her warnings about the forest. It always means more work for her later. Her tasks usually involve less nurturing and more keeping things in line- both fauna and flora. She enjoys her work, but sometimes wishes that it was less messy. But then, it would be if creatures would just listen.
The forest provides for all she likes to say. It is her home, provides her food, and often makes for great entertainment (you should hear what comes out of a manticore's mouth. They.are.hilarious!). She loves being surrounded by beautiful flowers and never knowing what is around the next corner. If you ever run into trouble in the forest just give a yell. Seriadne is always willing to lend a hand.

Theme song: Mummer's Dance

When in the springtime of the year
When the trees are crowned with leaves
When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew
Are dressed in ribbons fair

When owls call the breathless moon
In the blue veil of the night
The shadows of the trees appear
Amidst the lantern light.
