★★★ QUICK LOOKSeer He/Him | Gay | Mated to Hephaestus This eccentric seer chooses to live just outside the outskirts of the Hale-Bopp camp. Mania, rather than lay within the open space of the quarry or inside of a narrow crack in the rock, takes up shelter inside of a once-mighty mighty Starwood tree. At night, the tree's leaves pulse with harsh red light, the dead tree absorbing the parasitic dragon's Plague magic. Mania is a quirky and morbid (but overall harmless) dragon who prefers to use either a handmade tarot or divination with rune-carved bones scavenged from the bordering Scarred Wasteland. There are even rumors he uses his own blood in his fortune-telling, some coming to this conclusion from the many bandages he's usually seen wrapping himself in. His predictions tend to be fairly accurate, but their true outcome may involve a dark twist. He enjoys the company of his boyfriend, the aloof blacksmith Hephaestus.

★★★ PERSONALITY Mania loves to ramble on about whatever fixation he's got going on at the moment - previous such fixations have included everything from cultural funeral practices to fungi cultivation. However, his go-to topic of discussion is anatomy. He loves skeletons, and keeps whatever completed ones he's found fully articulated and posed within his den. He likes to play up his morbidity for the newer members of the clan, but once a dragon gets to know him, they're soon to find out how much of a total dork he is. He's a chronic micro-sleeper who's liable to pass out in the middle of a conversation before abruptly springing back where he left off, even long after the dragon he was talking to has gone away. |

★★★ HISTORY Mania doesn't know either of his parents and honestly doesn't want to. He hatched from an egg that laid long dormant between the borders of Dragonhome, the Tangled Wood, and the Scarred Wasteland after a roaming flock of Corven Talonok scavenged it to be feasted upon in their camp. However, this band of warriors was set upon by a surprise attack when crossing the border into the Scarred Wasteland, and were decimated by a pack of Mirrors. The survivors, scrambling to escape, left behind most of the pilfered goods, including the egg that held Mania. Under the influence of the Plaguebringer's magic, the egg melted into a foul, writhing pustule, out of which the infant Spiral dragon slithered out of not too long after. Mania would spend the formative years of his life alone, wandering through the twisted and broken land. The acrid weather and the constant onslaught of attacks from Beastclan warriors and territorial dragons alike made him toughen up quickly. Rather than fight, however, he spent many days sleeping, stuffing his long body into the protection of a dead tree or a crack in the earth, and many nights scavenging and digging around for whatever he could use to sustain himself. The bird skull pendants, his deer antlers, and the broken tail bauble he wears were all made up of scavenged parts during this time. Mania happened upon the Hale-Bopp clan by pure coincidence. Being a relatively uneducated dragon, he knew little of the rest of the world, and strayed close enough to his land's border to see the curving mountains of the Crystalspine Reaches far off in the distance. Curious, and eager for a change of pace, he gathered up all his scavenged treasures and set off. He arrived on the clan's figurative doorstep confused, hurting, and starved. Being ignorant to the dangers of entering the Starfall Isles as a Plague dragon, he was quickly sickened by the abundant magic in the air and earth. He was found by the patrol, who cautiously brought him in to see if he could recover. Once he was awake, he refused to stop talking about where he had been and how interesting and terrifying this place was. He proved his worth as a seer by demonstrating the magic tricks and fortune-telling he had taught himself out of a combination of pilfering recovered books from burnt-down libraries and sheer boredom. He is now a valued member of the clan, if not the most odd. |

★★★ FAMILIAR Mania's familiar is a Sandstrike named Fang. It was one of many things he'd found over the years in the Scarred Wasteland - or actually, it had found him. While resting one night, the creature had sneaked up on his slumbering form and attempted to bite a chunk out of his own tail! Strangely, the Spiral dragon quickly grew fond of the hateful creature, and dragged it along for his adventures. Fang hates him and is constantly trying to maim him.
