She was the Second of the Twelve.

An abandoned nest. A ravenous trio. Too young. Too shunned. Too forgotten.

Too hungry.

The three sisters ate what they could find. Scavenged what they could get their filthy broken claws into. Somehow, they managed to grow into adolescence but even then surviving till the next morn was a goddess-sent blessing.

Or perhaps a curse.

One was strong though. Tough. Stubborn. Despite being all skin and bones and sinew, she clung onto life with everything she had.

Everything she had, and more.

It was just a matter of time, really. As they grew, their desperation flourished as nothing was enough anymore. The nest was too small. The food, too little. Much too little. And as it depleted, so did their strength.

Except... for Keisa, once she realized that no. There wasn't too little food. In fact, there was quite a lot of it. Nearby, even.

And that night, The Second Fed.

Once she came to her senses, she found her claws stained with blood, the taste of copper strong in her mouth, and the shredded remains of her sisters at her feet.

A heart beat. Two, before the horror of what she had done dawned onto her.

She howled. Despair. Terror. Disgust. Guilt. Her mind could not handle it, and it shattered.

And now it was ripe for the picking.

Sister.

Keisa's head rose, turned. Seeking for the source of the voice.

A serpentine form slithered up to her. Sister.

Her jaw gaped. Her eyes widened.

A draconian head peered down at the much smaller dragon, her voice soft and enthralling. We are still with you, sister.

Hesitation. Doubt.

Large claws gripped the dead dragons' heads, ripping them off almost effortlessly. One was handed over to the mirror and Keisa stared into blank, lifeless eyes. We are now one with you, sister.

Wonderment. Hope?

It's time to leave the nest, sister. Will you join me? Will you join us?

Cruel claws grabbed her own head then, forcing it to meet the gaze of her other sister. Wordlessly, she nodded.

And before her, Asyncos smiled.
