Biography
...
Incomplete, rejected and cast out. This child, like many of its brothers and sisters from the tower, was sent away to be disposed of by the alchemist's right hand, only to be dropped at an unsuspecting clan's doorstep as a secretive act of compassion. These children grow up unaware of their heritage, its mark only visible on their bodies. Some grow up to be monstrous and warped due to their unstable nature and magic, while others manage to lead more stable existences and hone their fluid magical nature into something solid, and entirely new.

...
Now grown and and aware of his heritage, Storm must search for his own place. He is mostly happy within his clan, where he has many teachers and friends who have taught him to understand his powers, but a part of him longs for something more. Something he can't put words to. His abilities bring voices to his ears, thoughts and secrets and dreams of the dragons that pass him by.
This dissatisfaction led him to experiment with transformation magic. His scales changed colour, cycling through shades of blue and pink. His last test resulted in green and red scales, and his unhappiness grew as he looked in the mirror. The voices in his head grew louder too, echoing his anxiety as his control loosened. He tried his best to tune them out, and went to bed in despair of ever finding his calling. The voices chattered away, sharing the thoughts of his clanmates, and of dragons far distant.
It was a lone voice, cutting through the static, that changed his life forever.
His grandmother.
Willow, daughter of the infamous Naomi. Sought after for her knowledge, she knew what it was like to keep the secrets of others. She wasn't even aware of Withe as she drifted off to sleep, thoughts on her scattered children. But that brief touching of minds ignited something within Withe. He sprang from bed and looked into the mirror once more.
Yes, he looked just like her. A gleaming bright green body, vibrant red wings. His were darker, more muted, but the resemblance was clear. His heart beat rapidly in his chest.
He knew his purpose.
He was an echo of Willow, the one who would tell her tale of capture and escape. Her herald, her right hand dragon. He would work to build her name to a height to rival Naomi's. This would be his life's work.
He hurried to the communal chest of apparel and rifled through it. A red hood, white armour for his legs. Yes, he would be the perfect reflection. He dressed quickly and went back to his chambers, where he spent the rest of the night staring into his mirror.
He was perfect.
But his name was not. Storm? What kind of name was that for Willow's Echo? As easily as he had changed the colour of his scales, he changed his name.
Withe.
A branch of a willow tree. Useful for crafting and building. Yes, he could be a tool.
His name is Withe, and he is Willow's Echo.
