Hookwing

Like her mother's mother before her, Hookwing is smart. Perhaps too smart. Bright, and shining, and capable of soaking up information at a terrifying speed. Being a clever, clever skydancer will undoubtedly get her into trouble. Perhaps it will get her out again as well.

Despite her Light-standard brilliance, Hookwing is... shy. Too glittering to be sneaky, she nevertheless speaks as little as possible, and hopes to fade into the background. She flitters about the lower tunnels, a pale ghost in the darkness between light sources, and fumes that she can so rarely sneak up on anyone to eavesdrop upon them, or follow any but the brighter members without being noticed, greeted, and expected to speak.

The stand-offish Spiral, Ptolemy, is in a similar state, if a bit smaller and therefore more able to hide in cracks. He comes out to catalog the lair's treasures, make sure no one has been borrowing from them without his (and presumably Royal Midnight's) awareness, and snakes back to his own den, which is sparsely decorated with precious objects -- presumably taken from the lair's troves with Royal Midnight's awareness.

Hookwing is stalking Ptolemy. She doesn't know if he realizes it yet. But she is. She can pretend that she's just fluttering about, or smoothing out rough spots in the tunnel walls with her clever hands and a good rock. And he can no more hide his pale, glittering self down here than he can.

Eventually he'll have to notice her. She'll make sure of it.
But when she did, when she made her interest known... They're cousins. Curse everything, they're cousins! She's stuck in foolish pride, unable to go back and hide herself in the depths of the lair's tunnels, having to go about the business of the lair while knowing he's probably laughing at her. It is intolerable.
