~said land (isthmus) was built over by the flights' expansion
~they/she(?) travelled far to find the last vestiges of the place they'd once protected
~which happened to be the wood used for the Thorn
~made an agreement with Shrike and Koraki to protect the ship as long as they kept it in excellent condition, and let them live on board as part of the crew
~became dragon-shaped in order to carry out duties easier (water spirit in the jug is actually closer to their true form, their "heart" so to speak)
~used Shrike and Koraki's appearances to influence their own, hence the Jackdaw-ness
