EMBEROIDS
Magma's Laboratory Notes
"Commencing activation of Emberoid Two and Emberoid Four. Temptress, if you would?"
"Certainly, my dear friend."
A song echoed through the laboratory, laced with the magic needed to activate the duo of massive robots before them. Both were modeled after Guardians, easily towering over the singing Coatl and grinning Pearlcatcher before them. Somewhere to the side, another nearly complete robot stood, this one modeled after a Wildclaw. The magic left the unfinished bot untouched, instead flowing into its Guardian 'siblings.'
An elated gasp escaped the Pearlcatcher as both Guardian Emberoids came to life, eyes turning into a vibrant orange. Though the two were both Guardians in appearance, there was one slight difference. Emberoid Four had a visible chemical chamber: the chemical within its belly glowed even brighter as it came to life, just as the wing vents on both opened to release the hot chemical.
Magma yelped and leapt back as the chemical sputtered out of the vents, sending droplets flying all around. The Coatl didn't flinch, simply altering her spell slightly to create a barrier between herself and the splashes of chemical.
"I thought you didn't use battle magic," Magma said once the activation spell ended.
"I don't, not usually. I'm an enchantress, not a battle mage, but it's handy for self-defense, no?" the Coatl responded. "I think you've bigger issues than questioning my magical ability, though. I am not as knowledgable as you when it comes to this, but I am certain they were not supposed to do that."
"I-" Magma began, only to be interrupted by an unsettling cracking and hissing noise. Both dragons glanced over at the Emberoids, eyes widening at the sight of large cracks marring the outer body of Emberoid Two.
"Quick, shut it off!" Magma shouted, pointing dramatically at the overheating robot.
"For Mather's sake, must you yell? I know what to do," Temptress snapped, already cutting off the magic used to control it. Emberoid Two's shining eyes quickly died down to a dull glow as the heat left it. Its wing vents shut with a barely audible hiss, stopping the thin flow of chemical over the appendages. The cracks running throughout its body glowed ominously, hinting at the unstable chemical within.
Both dragons waited in silence for several minutes, watching the malfunctioning Emberoid with caution. Finally, Magma gathered up the courage to tread closer, observing the cracks in its shell. The Pearlcatcher frowned at the damage, grumbling, "It looks like I'll have to drain this one and rebuild the casing... And work on the chemical consistency. It was too thin on Emberoid Two, causing it to spray..."
"As for Emberoid Four, she looks quite well. Another chemical consistency issue; it's a bit too thick, but with proper maintenance I do believe she will work just fine. Now for a name..."
"A name? Is Emberoid Four not satisfactory?"
"She's one of Magma's Mechanical Marvels, of course a simple number isn't enough! Therefore, I designate this one Olimpia!"
