೨ The Test ৯
Yethr had been sent out alone. It was dark and awfully cold, and he flinched at the sound of his own footsteps as they hit water.
He hadn't wanted to be in the army. He had wanted to become an explorer, or perhaps even a mapper. He didn't feel well about the war he was now stuck in, and he despised the fact that his freedom had been stolen from him. He was hardly allowed to speak without being reprimanded by the elite warriors of which would constantly watch over the newer members, and no one was ever allowed a rest from the difficult, back-breaking training they were forced to go through.
And through it all, Yethr had decided that he wouldn't fail the army. That he had failed his original dream and that it was about time to find a new one.
But now, in this dark and cold night, he thought that he must have done so well that they had now let him become a one-man army. This thought did not come with pride or joy, but instead a dread and despair. He couldn't operate or fight groups of enemies on his own. He had struggled and fought to keep his place as the best in the new army and had been brought down hundreds of times.
He relied on commands and orders to know what to do and continued to fail to solve problems on his own. The elites must have known that, right?
When sent out, they hadn't given him any details on what he was meant to do other than given the fact that there was an enemy within the Centraelo sector. He didn't know whether he was to simply locate it and track it or fight it. He'd been thrown out without any orders.
Perhaps he was meant to be some kind of bait for it. Maybe he was a sacrifice. And of course this thought frightened him quite a bit, but then he came to the conclusion that he would continue to fight for the army. That he would die in it. And that was his dream.
In the end, he searched and searched for the intruder. It took until the sun had risen to find a peculiar red flash that ended up being it's wing as it tried to take off. With it now captured, it tried to tempt him to let him go with promises of a better life or with treasures and jewels that it had stored up over the years.
But Yethr would not give the intruder his ears.
And that was how he would pass the test and lead armies for years after.

FAMILIAR
Dnayi always shows a calm, sweet exterior, though truly she is a spiteful, cruel soul who loves to bring pain upon others. She's horridly manipulative and sometimes tries to control Yethr. However, he has long gotten used to her childish ways and has learned how to use her skills against her.

ARMY GENERAL ➟ throughout the entirety of the clan, there are only two generals who lead four different armies. Generals are typically chosen from a group of warrior nobles who excel among the rest. They undergo a test of trust without their knowledge, and if they succeed in it the clan leader will order them to lead their armies. There isn't a choice.
