She realized early enough that she didn't quite feel the same pull that other dragons began to develop approaching adulthood. It didn't bother her much, but when she finally worked up the courage to tell the rest of her clan, it felt like she'd just released a great burden.

They stopped bothering her with ulterior motives- perhaps not all at once, but they realized fairly quickly she was serious. Occasionally one or two approached her with breeding requests, and as long as they understood it wouldn't develop into more, she didn't mind. It left her with those who genuinely wanted to be friends, those who cared- generally the hatchlings. She liked that. After all, though she enjoyed being alone, loneliness failed to tickle her fancy at all.

It was relaxing to work on her projects with a pair of watchful eyes, and she didn't mind the occasional question or two. She loved the quiet ones who only rarely spoke and displayed a genuine curiosity. They reminded her of herself.
