B I O G R A P H Y
King was raised by his father from a young age. His father was very talented and intelligent, and he often conducted research for long days with King’s limited assistance. It was King’s greatest wish to be of some help to him. That day finally came when he was still very young, and his father excitedly told him about a new discovery. Most of the words went over his head, but it was clear that this was something his father wanted to test very badly. He said he needed a subject, a young one, and that King suited the part perfectly. King, of course, agreed. On the day of the test, his father placed him onto a platform inscribed with many different runes and told him to stay very still. The experiment began and the runes beneath his feet began to glow and burn. Although they hurt, King did as his father said and stayed still, even as he began to cry in pain. His father praised him, telling him it was almost over, but then something happened. A brown and gold skydancer burst into his father’s laboratory, disrupting the experiment and lunging at his father. The magic, carefully under control by his father, grew wild and uncontrolled as he lost his concentration, and King wailed in agony. The two began to fight, and their tangled ball of teeth and claws tumbled out of the room. At last, the magic released King, and he fell to the floor unconscious. When he awoke again, it was dark. With trembling limbs he crawled for the door of the lab, whimpering and calling for his father. With great effort he managed to drag himself out, only to see a large, limp body on the ground. His father. A wrenching cry tore itself out of his throat, and he struggled to his father’s side. There were hardly any wounds, but the congealed blood was a sickly, poisoned color. His eyes were glassy and his chest was utterly still and silent. His only family in the world was taken from him, and King lost himself in despair. |

The wounds he sustained from his father’s last experiment were slow to heal, but once they did he was sure that it was a success. According to the notes, it had been his most ambitious project yet. It would supposedly give the subject (as he was referred to in all the notes) an immense boost of strength sourced from some arcane leyline. The wounds from the runic experiment were carved into his body with blood and healed with the color of golden ichor, and he felt magic thrum through his veins. It took years to master his abilities and improve them, testing himself against all manner of threats before he was willing to pursue the one who took it all from him. He gathered capable underlings, saving desperate dragons from the throes of despair for the sake of serving him and him alone, and he used his father’s research to improve their capabilities, twisting them into his own designs. Finally, he was ready to hunt. He would make his father’s murderer know the pain of seeing all that he loved destroyed. |
