Biography
Nelan wrote:
Nelan loved his home in the Windswept Plateau, where his parents did their best to protect the small hive and worked well with the rest of the Clan, but... in his heart of hearts, Nelan felt drawn to stories of other parts Sornieth, of lands so similar yet different from his own.
More than that, he felt the call - the natural instinct - of wanting to start his own hive.
He dithered for days about it, as it went against his other instinct of needing to protect and defend his hive from the harshness of the world, as was his birthright. But as he grew older he felt that tug more and more, before finally speaking to his parents about it.
They were reluctant of course - after all, one of their children would be loose in the world on their lonesome, and the hive wouldn't be there to defend them - but they understood; they, too, had felt the same call to start a hive, and when one felt that call they were bound to nature to listen.
Packing the few belongings he had, he said a tearful goodbye to his parents, fellow hive-members and Clanmates, then set out for the rest of Sornieth.
He wandered for weeks, shyly asking those he met on the road for directions; not quite knowing where he was going, but just following as his instincts dictated.
It was about a month into his wandering that he found himself in the Sunbeam Ruins.
For all that the Windswept Plateau was elevated flat fields with open skies, the Sunbeam Ruins were covered in rolling hills and large trees, ruins of ancient civilizations gleaming in the warm sun. And something in him said he was close, so close to the perfect spot to start a new hive.
It was an accident that he met Lavi that day; he was wandering through what the locals told him were called the Mirrorlight Promenade before literally running into the Imperial.
After apologies and introductions were made, he was relieved when the Imperial offered for Nelan to stay the night with his own Clan, agreeing, seeing as the Imperial seemed trustworthy.
Maybe he could search again come morning...
