Holo

Genocide.

A horrid word, with a horrid meaning.

Holo's parents had told her she was named after that word. She was confused, rightfully so. What kind of parents named their kid after that.

However, Holo didn't see a resemblance between 'Holo' and 'Genocide'.

Holo hated violence. She didn't see the point of it. Why not resolve things peacefully instead? Is war the only answer?

She hated being alone. Most of her family had gone to serve the deity, the Plaguebringer. She was always at home, by herself. Quite lonely it is.

But then... she came. A mysterious coatl with cold glowing eyes and feathers as dark as the night sky. That dragon had told her she could be free. No longer to be alone, waiting for a family member to come visit. It was tempting, very tempting. However... she refused to go, even if she knew that deep inside she wanted to- needed to. The stranger only smiled and told her,

"If you ever change your mind, feel free to come visit the tangled woods. Or not, whatever your decision is lies with you."

They flew away, almost immediately blending in with the night sky. She then realized she never asked for the coatl's name. How strange. Looking back at her words, was it worth it?
