“Oh, a mind is a terrible thing to lose!”


Lisp is a living archive, built to store and protect all manner of information, from mechanical blueprints to historical documents. He was designed on the concept of a backup server that could protect itself. Though he is technically one of the oldest androids currently still functioning, and one of the first artificial intelligences, considering how much he has been upgraded and changed both inside and out over the years, that may be a matter of perspective.

Originally, Lisp’s AI was barely sophisticated enough to move away from potential threats. His rise to sentience was a slow process, and far from a smooth one. Having so much data to keep track of has made him more than a little unstable. He refers to himself by grandiose titles, such as “Apprentice to the Gods” and “Keeper of the Truth”. He is rather paranoid, keeping a distance from and suspiciously glaring at anyone or anything he does not recognize until some unknown requirement is fulfilled. Even then, he recoils from almost all physical touch. He claims to be the only one who knows the true nature of reality and the true names of the deities, though he refuses to divulge either.

Lisp seems compelled to continually collect data about anything that fulfills certain unknown and seemingly arbitrary requirements. His memory does not appear to have a set limit, nor does his battery. He does not seem to be sending the information anywhere, simply hoarding it.

In his current state, Lisp is more of a ward of FL/GHT than a member. Given his compulsion to collect data, he tends to lurk around the innovators and information gatherers. His archives contain a large and varied amount of useful information, though accessing it has been an arduous process. The data is stored in a fractalling pattern of seemingly infinite nested files, some of which are encrypted. There is no observable pattern as to what gets encrypted, nor what method of encryption is used.

Lisp's manufacturer is unknown, as is whoever entered some of the more obscure data he stores.

Lisp’s facial recognition program is notably flawed. He has difficulties recognizing familiar faces in new lighting, and often fails to recognize an entity as a living creature at all if they keep perfectly still.

[Mini-update]

A file in Lisp's directory was recently decrypted containing blueprints for a variety of unorthodox androids. The file names for each of their blueprints hint at unusual functions, such as 'clairvoyant calculator' or 'long-range thermometer'. Most of the coding had to be redone, as it was built to run on a system evidently very different to most standard android operating systems. Tessla Coyle has taken charge of this coding, and even implemented her own ability to toggle non-essential processes into the resulting androids.
