Uh-oh, looks like this young Rixarfae wandered a little too far from their home lair (452562, Hyzenthlaay), and now they’re off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt them, we'd really appreciate it if you instead could just return them to their original home via the Crossroads, send them off in the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread (warning, you will get another traveler in return if you do this), or if you don’t want another traveler in return, this rest hub. You can also adopt them permanently if you don’t want them leaving your lair - just contact Hyzenthlaay and let her know (it’s good for her notes)! Many people have worked very hard on this traveling dragon, and exalting them would be an absolute shame. Please don’t do it! 
Ris has all the typical passion of a Rixarfae - a fiery, pointed determination towards any foe that finds themselves at the unfortunate end of his broadsword. This can only be matched by his level of passion for merfae superior Mabsa, whom has become the “leader” of Clan Mavenlark’s handful of merfae (a separate issue in of itself). He sees the protection of her well-being as his life’s purpose. Between picking minor scraps with the guard’s less upstanding members, who are most likely to feed into his antics - Pick immediately comes to mind for her ability to rile up Ris to no end with her subtle jabs - and fulfilling his actual guard duties, Ris can be seen trailing Mabsa like a lovesick puppy, intent on maintaining her safety. The humor in this, of course, is that Mabsa could easily handle a team of ten Rises in a fight, given her proficiency with her sword. Despite being fairly distant from the Guard, however, she has a soft spot in her heart for Ris - possibly due to the headache of abandoning merfae life, only to be chosen as a leader. Ris has made the ultimate sacrifice for her in choosing a life of land, making them both outcasts among their kind; he has more than proven his loyalty. And besides, Clan Mavenlark’s guard is more than happy to accept this level of passion within their members, so long as their sword isn’t burdened by it. Siccing Ris on an enemy might not ensure their defeat, but it certainly will their delay. His endurance is unparalleled if not his strength, and keeping an enemy on their toes for an uncomfortable amount of time is his specialty. He is a merfae, but unlike most of his brethren, he is mostly land-dwelling, as he and Mabsa abandoned a life of sea-faring in order to serve Mavenlark. Their willing abandonment of the ocean has them shunned by most other merfae, including their own children. As of late, he has left Mavenlark to improve his personal fighting skills, though the distance from Mabsa is starting to get to him. Consciousness of his weakness compared to the rest of the guard has inspired him to take to Sornieth in search of training opportunities - all the better to protect his love with. He managed to find a warmer reception in another part of The Clan, bear the nests and nurseries, where he found other travelers, newcomers, and many dragons used to befriending the visitors. “There is a matriarch here, but she’s very mysterious,” a fellow Fae chirped to him. “She has become Veilspun and only speaks in riddles.” So Ris stopped asking questions and spent some time with his new friends - playing cards, telling stories, and —remembering his love for Mabsa, turning down Nightfall’s offer to be nestmates. Next on his list of stops was another clan laid over a large territory in the Scared Wasteland. Deftly dodging dangerous denizens, he marched into the in the clan proper. There he met many dragons of his sort of caliber, many of them warriors by trade. One dragoness in particular, a champion and a trainer both, challenged him to a friendly duel. The ensuing battle was a sight to behold, each testing the other defenses and gauging each other's weaknesses. In the end it did not matter who had won; there was fun to be had and stories to swap. After leaving this clan he visited more clans before arriving at Clan Burning Fantasies. When he flew in he ran smack dab into another traveler who was arriving at the same time her name was Static The lightning Fae caught his eyes immediately. Ris wasn’t gonna forget his true love Mabsa so easily though, what surprised them was that one of their children was born with more than 2 eyes. As Static used to be a Ambassador of Lightning she took this sign very clearly leaving her Multi Gaze son in the clan to serve the Flamecaller. Ray already being forsaken by his fellow Merfae supported this fully wanting his fire flight children to live full happy lives. Most find Multi gaze creepy but regardless him and his brother where treated well by their parents. As Ris continued travelling, he ended up returning to the Plaguebringer's domain. However, the clan he found himself staying at didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the wastelands. The Rescue's pacifist ideology wasn't something he was used to, and the few fighters that the clan had didn't seem open to teaching others their techniques. Ris moved on quickly, hoping for a clan that would have more for him than the Rescue. HappyAccidents, The Sky Runners wrote:
From a pacifist plague clan to what seemed nearly identical, it was only a few short days before Ris happened upon the Sky Runners. And yes, at first glance, they seemed quite similar to the Rescue from which he'd come. But he soon realized that wasn't the case at all, upon meeting their matriarch, Grace. Grace wanted to help everyone, wanted the world to have just a little more kindness. Her mate, however, a far more fierce skydancer named Jack, had trained many elite warriors. He even offered Ris to join them in their training, which the fae accepted. From there, Ris also got the opportunity to meet many other dragons of the Sky Runners. He became close friends with many of the fiercest warriors, but his closest friend by far became Crusade, who was another fierce warrior. They bonded while training together, and Crusade promised to keep in touch. |
