Biography

Dayspring has always been a wanderer. Their curious nature got them into trouble when they were a hatchling, exposing them to the venom of the Onyx Cobra. Dayspring was infected with the gembond disease not long after, turning their once-gorgeous rose shimmer to cold hard rock. However, unlike most dragons with the affliction, Dayspring found gembond to be beautiful. They considered it more of a blessing than a curse, but others ridiculed them for their mistake. Eventually, they could no longer stand the taunts of their erstwhile friends and migrated away from their clan. They met Copperwing while he was out foraging for his mate Stormherald, who was watching over their first egg. Dayspring immediately took a liking to him and became the first dragon to join the clan. The egg hatched a few days later, and Copperwing and Stormherald were soon invested in the nursing of little Veridi. Dayspring was left to hunt and gather for the four of them, but they grew lonely. They started to travel further and further from the lair, collecting exotic materials from around Sornieth. Dayspring met many new dragons and gained an appreciation for their cultures. Many of these dragons were unfortunately repelled by their gembond disease, but the few who stayed made lasting impressions on them. On a visit to the Sunbeam Ruins, Dayspring encountered Imperials and Pearlcatchers who sneered at their condition. For a flight so invested in truth and knowledge, the light elementals were quite hostile. However, there was one very understanding Imperial who was empathetic towards them. In fact, her cousin had been young and reckless and entered the Tangled Wood on a dare. He came back with gemstones growing out of his leathery hide. His friends didn’t talk to him after they saw the effects, fearful that they would catch the disease too.
