Yukiyomi
The Dark Guardian

A warrior sworn to protect her people.
One of the Shado-Pan, stationed in the Kun-Lai mountains.

Yuki spent her life dedicated to the war against the Sha. A calm and centered young woman, she chose to fight so that others did not have to.

During the course of the Horde and Alliance occupation of Pandaria, she met Daviid and Makanara. The trio fought side by side against the darkness and became friends.

When members of her ancient order were corrupted by the Sha, Yuki and her companions stormed the monastery and drove out the darkness. She carried the fight to the Townlong Steppes.

And when Hellscream did the unthinkable, corrupting the very heart of Pandaria, she swore to see the darkness unleashed upon the Vale destroyed.

Yuki was on the front lines of the assault against Hellscream's army and the Sha.

And there, in the halls deep below the country she loved... She fell.

A warrior to the end.

A protector.

Heartbroken, Daviid and Makanara returned their friend's body to the snow covered mountains so dear to her. They buried her beneath the white blossoms of the snow plum trees. With her sacrifice forefront in their minds, they began the Siege of Orgrimmar.

Her grave was peaceful. No stones or monuments stood in her honour; only the natural beauty of the blossoming branches marked Yuki's burial place.

There she rested, at peace.

But her people still needed her.

Fel fire rained from the skies. Legions of demons swarmed the earth, ripping rifts in reality and corrupting all that they touched.

When the first invasion struck Pandaria, Yuki's spirit awakened.

Her home, under attack.

Her people, in danger.

She was needed.

So strong was her spirit that it garnered the attention of the Lich King himself. He reached out and found the pandaren warrior, enraged at the corruption of her land. In her he saw a fighting spirit with no parallel - a fighter whose will was so strong that not even death could keep her from her sworn duty.

She was the perfect candidate for his new order of Death Knights.

The Lich King spoke to Yuki. He offered her a second chance - reborn from death, made whole again. Stronger. Fiercer. More deadly.

Without hesitation, Yuki accepted.

The cold embraced her. Frost crackled over her fur. Ice flooded her veins. Its chill power suffused her, giving a new semblance of life.

Yuki rose from her grave, as ready to defend her land as the day she had died.

Still clad in the garb of the Shado-Pan warriors, but now armed with the power of frost, she struck back against the Legion's invasion. Demons were slain, their ships destroyed, until none were left on Pandaria's soil.

It was not enough. The cold burned within her, driving her on. Her people were still in danger.

(Her people. The Pandaren whispered the name of their dark champion - Yukiyomi. She who had risen from the grave in their hour of need. Truly, she was touched by the emperor himself.)

And so it was that the death knight traveled to the Broken Isles. She fought on the front lines against the Legion, welcoming allies from all races and walks of life - so long as they fought against the corruption and destruction of Azeroth.

It was there that she was reunited with Daviid and Makanara. The two were shocked to see their old friend, now a Death Knight. When she explained that it had been her choice to rise again, Maka was overjoyed to see her. For Daviid, who had seen firsthand the horrors wrought by Arthas' Death Knights, the change in his friend took longer to accept.

Soon the new Lich King proved to be no better than the last. He sent his greatest warrior, Sameena, to storm the Sanctum of Light and raise Tirion as one of his horsemen.

When she heard of this plan, Yukiyomi was horrified. She had chosen her new life. She had chosen to fight again. But Tirion - Tirion had earned his rest. Tirion was sworn to the Light. This was no fate for such a noble being.

And so Yukiyomi refused to take part in the raid. More than that - she reached out to Daviid to warn him of the coming attack. And when Sameena and her forces fought their way to the heart of the Sanctum, Daviid was waiting for them. With the power of the Light on his side he resurrected all those who had fallen in the defense...but more than that - he resurrected Sameena herself. Thanks to Yuki's warning, he was able to save her from the grip of the new Lich King.

Her actions having proven her to be no servant of evil, Daviid put aside his misgivings and embraced Yukiyomi as the friend he had lost...and found again.

Disgusted by the Lich King's actions, Yuki turned her back on him. Though his powers had raised her from the dead, she did not owe him her service. The bargain had been made to save her people. It was to them that her allegiance lay.

With the Legion defeated and driven back from Azeroth, Yukiyomi returned to the Kun-Lai mountains. She had no interest in the conflict between Horde and Alliance, though she watched and listened with growing unease to the tales of Sylvanas Windrunner's brutality and depravity.

But there would be need for her in the battle for Azeroth.

Atop the summit near her grave, sitting with her back against the snow plum trees, Yuki heard the voice of the Lich King in the back of her head. Images flooded her mind. To her shock, she saw him under assault by Sylvanas herself. She watched as the banshee Queen stole the Lich King's power - and used it to tear open a rift, splitting the barrier between worlds asunder.

Azeroth was vulnerable once again.

Pandaria was in danger.

Weapon in hand, Yukiyomi arose.

Her people had need of her.

"I am the watcher in the shadows - and my watch has not yet ended."
