Fern is a happy, generally upbeat dragon, he enjoys spending time out in nature, and is very fond of plants and bugs. He can often be spotted basking and watching various insects and other critters he finds. He tends to carry a sturdy canvas bag to collect flowers, foods he enjoys, and whatever little treasures he decides he likes enough to bring home and show off to his friends. Fern will also bring home things for others that he thought may interest them.
Fern can get quiet and nervous around people he doesn't know well, having a tendency to hide behind those he trusts when he's anxious, but will emerge from his shell once he becomes more comfortable. Smitty helped him a lot in becoming more comfortable with the clan, and helps him out when he's in a situation involving people he's not close to, trying to draw him into conversation and let him know that it's okay, but never forcing him to speak if he's not comfortable enough to do so. Smitty takes care to watch Fern's tells and does his best to help him out however he can.
