KIMAYA - Magic Harvester

For most dragons, magic is meant to be used. They harness it through whatever means their elemental affinities allow, and then disperse it in the form of spells and enchantments and what have you. It is a personal affair, contained entirely in one’s own heart.

Of course, Kimaya isn’t like most dragons at all, and sees magic as something to be collected. Born without any particular elemental strength of their own, they set their sights on experiencing magic nonetheless. As a hatchling, this meant staring wide-eyed at the light shows put on during festivals, or begging visiting Flight ambassadors to do parlor tricks to prove the power of their deities.

Now, though, it means seeking out magic to keep in more than memory. Glass jars line Kimaya's home, glittering with trapped spells, humming with magic restrained. A single loose cork could raze everything, truth be told, but what Kimaya lacks in innate magical talent, they make up for in preparation. For every spell that they manage to coax into preservation, there are labels pasted to glass, corks sealed with ensorcelled amber made impenetrable with the application of gentle heat, and notebooks upon notebooks of detailed notes. Kimaya is prepared for any eventuality, having devoted as many hours to studying magic as they have to harvesting it.

And maybe one day, they’ll even decide what to do with their ever-expanding collection.
