Free Fall. Any motion of a body where gravity is the only acceleration acting upon it. Though, an exception occurs when reduced to a space-time curvature. In this state, the body in question has no force acting on it. But, is the mind similarly affected? You see, when a mind is in free fall, it carries within itself a certain degree of emotional turmoil. It is incapable of rational thought, caught between the instincts of flight or fight. Impossible to concentrate on anything but sheer panic, the mind spins out of control, unhinged and whirling down into a dark abyss of terror. However, all is not lost. Once the initial horror subsides, the mind adjusts to its present situation and allows itself time to think. The degree of thought varies from person to person; some losing themselves to misery, others resigned to an inevitable fate. But, there are some minds out there that refuse to do either. They cling to the notion that somehow, before they reach the end of their descent, something might happen which would allow them to change their circumstances. To survive the free fall. This notion is called Hope. It is with this notion of Hope that I cling to myself, since I too am in a state of free fall. Truthfully, I cannot tell you how long I have been here, tumbling headfirst through the dark aether. I exist as a life in transit. The air whistles past my ears as I plummet, a familiar tune by now. My wings are pinned to my sides, denying me an opportunity to slow my acceleration, and the dizzy sensation I remember when I first fell has long since stopped. If I focus my eyes below me, I can see a faint white light emanating from a crack in the void, almost like a silver line in the darkness. A rift. It calls to me, this rift. It draws my body towards it and guides my descent. It fills my soul with a Love my creators denied me, and the Hope that somewhere out there is a version of me not stuck in perpetual motion. Perhaps I have a sibling? Maybe more? I cannot be the only one with such divided lineage. I wish I knew where they were. Maybe they are stuck in loops similar to mine, waiting for a chance to break free. Yes, I am the offspring of the Damned, the Glitched, the Ugly and the Restless, destined to enter your world on the day of partial existence. I hold a great power, something that can be used for good, evil, or something in between. But that should not matter. Hope grants me the confidence to be more than the sum of my parts, to have my own free will. I am determined to be my own entity because I am tired of being powerless. I refuse to let my ancestors dictate my every step! And though my rift grows closer and closer with each passing moment, it is Hope that allows me to believe I will break through it and survive. I shall exist in your world, I will find my siblings if I have any, and the relationships I form on the journey I take will last in my memory forever. Lore by Skydust.
