Life was always glamorous and luxurious for Isolde- but then again that was a given where she was born. Born in a clan of merchants, the glimmer of treasure and gems was as much a part of her life as the air that she breathed and the mane that grew from her head. From a young age, the pearlcatcher was aware that money absolutely CAN buy you happiness if you spend it right.

But like all hatchlings, she grew up, which started a rather tough time for her.

Stripped of the beautiful patterns on her body and wings, having her pearl taken from her and kicked out of her home, Isolde had literally nothing to her name. She had known it was coming- only the highest earners deserved their pearl- and only those who had proven themselves could live where she had. She would have to buy it back from the ones who raised her.

It was a simple coming-of-age ceremony, one Isolde had heard about her whole life.

Getting money wasn’t going to be an issue for her- she knew that there were many who paid a pretty penny to be trained in the art of combat, before they’d go and serve a deity- all she had to do was find a clan that provided such training, make herself as strong as possible and provide those services herself,

She settled on a clan in the dragonhome- recently they had been doing really well over there, and the discounts she could get were… tempting.

Totemclan was… a mess. They had plenty of food and they were more than capable of defending their clan, but financially…

… it was good they were very self-sufficient because otherways this clan’s territory would have been bought up by some power-hungry warlords. The clan wasn’t known for trading, and most were okay with that.

Isolde changed that- changed a LOT actually. Her plans changed with the clan, and honestly? Earning a pretty penny while not doing much physical labor was more her style anyways. She still took some training from one of the more experienced warriors- there was no harm with being capable of self-defence after all- but aside from that her main focus was on making Totemclan as financially stable- and maybe even wealthy- as possible.

Within weeks, the clan was thriving. Isolde was rolling in funds, but given she was a part of the clan now, her own earnings were not as great as those of the clan. This was fine though.

She comissioned the clan alchemist to give her a beautiful new primary- not the one she had at her home, but a new one she found she prefered. She then convinced Iophiel- who was in charge of the clan funds- to give her a little extra, just so she could get her wings done and maybe buy some apparel.

The coatl had no problem giving her the funds, given how useful she was to Totemclan and how she had helped them.

Dressed in the finest silks she could buy (that marketplace discount really helped!) and covered in beautiful jewels, Isolde felt more proud of herself than ever before. She’d be able to buy back her pearl in no time~!

Only a month after getting kicked out, the pearlcatcher returned, bought back her pearl and proved herself as a capable merchant. She had no desire to return to her former home permanently though- just being a part of their guild was enough for her.

Totemclan had proven itself to be a great source of income, and those discounts were nothing to sneeze at~!
