Battle Theme: Chaos king major key
No one is really sure where Spider came from, or why his name is actually ‘Spider’. The small dragon claims he once was a regular spider, but no one is sure how true this is. The white and red dragon is cheerful, honest and very….ignorant to the world around him. Despite being an adult there is a LOT the fae doesn’t know about, though he has plenty of stories of the place he used to come from.
The way the fae describes the place makes it sound like an alternate reality, or a hopeful dream of what the world could be. Kindness and generosity are encouraged and practiced with a passion. No one ever has to sleep out on the streets, because someone will always have their door open for them. Everyone shows respect and kindness to others, and every season there’s a different celebration- each held by a different ‘leader’.
According to Spider, it is during one of those celebrations that he got turned from a spider into a dragon, after wishing for it and asking one of the leaders to please turn him into a dragon. His request got granted, and Spider has been dragon-like ever since.
While initially the place sounds wonderful, there are a few…. Small issues that make it sound like it’s really just a cult.
The first and most obvious one is how isolated the place is- Spider honestly felt as if the place he came from was the only one where dragons lived, which implies no one comes across the place.
Or no one lives to tell the tale.
The second one is a bit less obvious, but still very apparent: the lack of information the dragons in the ‘cult’ receive. There are a few words which are ‘forbidden’- words such as murder, suicide, genocide, theft etc. At first this doesn’t seem like much, but given the fact that the MEANING of those words is unknown even to Spider, who left the place years ago (according to him), it’s safe to say the leaders are actively withholding information from those they rule.
The third is the leaders themselves- who are revered as gods, though according to Spider they try to be among their folk as much as they can. If the feats the fae describes are all true, these are indeed very powerful individuals. However, some sound far too fantastic to believe….
Still, despite this, the ‘cult’ Spider hails from doesn’t seem to be a bad one. If anything to the less critical thinkers it probably sounds like a paradise! Spider actually experienced it to be exactly like that, which makes one wonder why he decided to leave it…
According to the fae, he wanted to explore the world, and after his leader told him he was free to come back any time, he left with high hopes and a thirst for adventure.
Spider settled down in totemclan at some point, and has been their main mentor ever since. Young warrior apprentices come to him to learn how to fight, and the fae treats it like teaching them about a new sport. Apparently, there were huge fighting tournaments in the cult, and Spider was one of the champions- undefeated. Despite his small size it’s actually not hard to believe he could be a coliseum champion- if the ones he trained are any indication.
