"Sometimes I can't tell if you exist."

Ifan glanced over at Einiona as she stood at the kitchen table, clearing away the dishes as she always did every morning. It was the routine they followed every day: she did breakfast, he did dinner, and lunch was whatever they so felt like. Einiona usually went out to the local diner she always liked, whereas Ifan fixed his own meal. It made it so they never had to fight over who did the dishes or who'd cook since they always knew, and if they ever got bored of making the same meals, they swapped.

"Of course I exist," Ifan said, putting down his book and glancing at the merrily ticking grandfather clock standing in the corner. He'd always loved that clock ever since that first day he'd seen it at the flea market. An impulse buy, for sure, but nonetheless, it was absolutely worth it. A statement piece to their home. "What else would I be? A magician?"

"No," said Einiona, putting the dishes into the sink before turning to face him, expression unreadable. "No, but sometimes..." she trailed off, shook her head. "Never mind. It's silly anyways."

"... If you're sure," he said uncertainly. Because while they'd never been the type to fight or anything, Ifan never liked it when she was upset. "You can talk to me about anything, you know that, right?"

"Of course," she said. Then, "I'm going to the market. Do you want anything?"

"No, I'm okay. Thanks for offering."

Einiona left without another word, and Ifan settled back onto the couch, brows furrowed. Something was certainly bothering Einiona, that much was obvious, but what? Everything in their lives were fine and dandy, and it wasn't as if anything had happened recently either. Maybe... maybe he'd make her favorite dinner tonight. That'd be sure to cheer her up. And besides—

The clock chimed, a deep ringing sound that always brought a smile to his face, and Ifan perked up. The clock was absolutely the best investment ever. He'd seen other clocks for sure, but something about this one had always drawn him to it. Old and worn, but still so vibrant. Like a vintage T-shirt, only cooler.

He remembered Einiona had loved it too when she first saw it. And he always said it was the second best decision he'd made in his life—aside from marrying Einiona, of course.

Ifan paused.

... It was strange that he couldn't remember their wedding. And now that he thought about it, did Einiona even wear a ring? He didn't, but he'd never been the type of person to like rings. But if they weren't married, what else could they be?

Ifan's pretty chill about a lot of stuff. He's very go with the flow, doesn't really make ripples, and just rolls with the punches. Sometimes he does other stuff, but for the most part, he pretty much just hangs out. Enthuses about his clock, and acts the loving spouse of Einiona.

H i s t o r y
No one's really sure where Ifan came from, and Ifan never talks about it. He's not even sure if he has a history. Really, it seems as if Ifan just appeared one day, and that was that. But that'd be crazy, people can't just appear out of nowhere. So he assumes he had a mother and a father, he assumes he had a family, but the memory's all fuzzy and weird. Just like how he can't exactly remember if he and Einiona are married, just like he can't exactly remember when he moved in with Einiona. He knows right now what they have, but how it got this way? Yeah, that's a complete mystery.

Ifan may or may not exist. It depends on how you want to look at it. Ifan's not even sure himself, though of course he exists because if he didn't, how can he be here? At the same time... Ifan never leaves the home, he doesn't really interact with other dragons, and for the most part, he's the most alive around Einiona. When he's drawn into conversations with other dragons, they either talk over him as if he's not there, or end up incredibly confused or with a weird lapse in memory. Ask anyone, and they'd say Einiona lives alone. Ask Einiona, and she'll say she lives with a roommate (There's a running bet that the 'roommate' is a pet cactus).
