Pain is Beauty
Name: Lydia Mother: N/A Father: N/A Siblings: N/A Mate: N/A Children: N/A Familiar: Role in clan: Scrolls+Vials Merchant |
Are you on the run? Do you want to change how you look? Like right now? Wanna change that pinstripe to a leopard, but don't have the cash? Well, Lydia is the dragon for you! Lydia's scrolls and vials are only a quarter of the marketplace scrolls! Besides great price slash, these are some very high quality scrolls, they work in mere minutes and look fabulous! |
“This will really make my wings pretty, like a butterfly’s?” The stranger asked, eyeing the black and white imperial.
The imperial nodded vigorously, her many eyes fixated on the scroll in question. The stranger set it down, and moved to pick up a small vial, it was clear but inside swirled a rainbow concoction that never stayed one color for long.
“And this one, gives me swirl eyes?”
The Imperial gave a large toothy smile, “Oh yes, yes! Beautiful swirling eyes!”
This seemed to satisfy the stranger, as they put the vial down with a small smile on their face.
Lydia, for that was the name of the imperial, fixated her multitude of pale green eyes on the stranger. The visiting dragon was a small thing, a purple spiral only a few meters in length. Lydia gave another toothy grin before leaning towards the visitor.
“You seem to be looking for something… bigger…”
The spiral’s ears flattened, but they gave a curt nod.
Lydia made her way out from behind the counter, her large paws dwarfing the spiral on their own. She began to trek towards the back of the store, which was dusty. The purple spiral followed, practically running in order to keep up with Lydia’s massive form.
“Any particular breed in mind?”
The spiral nodded, “I need to be a widclaw."
This caused many Lydia’s eyes to raise as she eyed the spiral.
“You need to be one?”
The purple spiral nodded again, “I need to be a wildclaw. My partner’s family only wants their child to be with another wildclaw, and we do want their blessing”
Lydia nodded, her toothy grin turning into a frown. Some of her eyes turned to look at the spiral, while most of them were fixated on the racks upon racks of scrolls.
“I have many scrolls to help you, but I must ask, how quick do you want the results to be?”
“As quickly as possible I guess.”
The black and white imperial grabbed a tightly wrapped parchment from a top shelf. She blew a thin layer of dust off of it, before turning to hand it to the spiral.
“This is the fastest scroll I have, it will take one day. The only condition is that you must stay here until it is complete.”
The Spiral had been reaching out to grab it, but suddenly hesitated, “Why? What will happen to me?”
“Faster scrolls are dangerous. I could be condemning you a terrible change if I don’t help you.”
The spiral nodded, laying a clawed hand on the scroll.
“What will you do if something goes wrong?”
The Imperial’s pale green eyes turned away from the shelves to stare at the spiral.
“I will fix it.”

“Lydia,” The mass of flesh and bone wheezed.
Lydia payed it no mind, carefully stepping over it.
“I’m being ripped apart…” The mass puslated.
Lydia’s many eyes turned towards the revolting mass of flesh and bone. It was neither a spiral or wildclaw, rather it was a unholy mix of red and pink flesh. The imperial slowly began to lay down, with the mass twitching at her front paws.
“You asked for this. You wanted to become a wildclaw as quickly as possible. What did you expect?”
The flesh mass offered no response, only twitched and shuddered as it began to morph again. A blood curdling scream filled the air, as a clawed leg suddenly jutted out out the mass.
Lydia ran a cold claw over the leg, “Your leg formed very well, only one more to go. And well, everything else.”
The mass groaned as wings began to force their way out.

The next day, around noon, a wildclaw slowly wandered out from the back room. Their footing seemed uncertain, as they shuffled their steps.
“It seems that everything is working just fine.”
The wildclaw slowly raised their head, “I’ve never walked on two legs before.”
“Do you want help?”
The wildclaw shook their head.
The imperial watched as they shuffled around the room, eventually they began to pick up their feet. After a couple minutes, they seemed to have found their footing, and were calmly walking around the store rather fine.
“Flying will be very different from now on, right?”
Lydia nodded, “I do hope that your beloved will help you learn to fly with your new wings.”
The Wildclaw seemed to agree, and they began to make their way out of the shop. Before they left, they turned around.
“You said to ice anything if it gets sore the first few weeks, right?”
The imperial nodded from behind the counter. Seemingly satisfied with that answer, the wildclaw left the shop, uttering a quick ‘thank you’ as they left.
Those who went to Lydia were always the same, they wanted the quickest results possible. They would curse and scream, but they would always leave with a smile on their face. They would go through so much to be beautiful.
“Well,” the imperial thought ,”Pain is beauty.”
