Pureblood Construct King's egg was created by the artisan Verthandi, who removed the bony plates from Durendal's draconic body and shaped them into an ornate shell carved and decorated with a motif of crowns and inlaid with soft gold and red gems. This shell was then filled with Roland's blood and sealed. After the incubation period, in order to allow the artificial egg to hatch, it was pierced with Roland's sword, splitting the work of art down the center, and freeing the new dragon within. The bone shell was quickly incorporated into the new dragon's body, and when finished it had become the heavy defensive plates which fortify his back, legs, and skull, as well as his claws and teeth. The result was a stunning sanguine imperial, born by the name King. A dragon of animated blood with impenetrable bony plates to protect his graceful, flowing body. Next Chapter King eventually left the clan of his blood parents, once he was of age and battle trained. He was raised and treated often as a prince, meant to one day become a king. His mind, however, followed down paths of different arts and questions. He left seeking to "solidify" his form, to feel what it was to have a true body like his father. He traveled far and wide following whispers that led him to the dark corners hidden within the sunlit lands of Lightweaver. It was through the dark arts nurtured in the Assassin Guild, Mortem, that he found a way to take on a new life. It came at a bloody price, taking not just an immortal life, but a vessel of living dead tissue. No one knows who the Skydancer was, only that his flesh was like folded steel and he was once an ancient vampire. It is a mystery how King managed to subdue the ancient being, but it was one where King was forced to shed a great deal of his own blood and liquefy the very bones that held his shape together. He drained the body of blood and infused it with his own living blood and captured the liquid bone and marrow within the body's core. The gems and metal that once decorated his figure took on a new shape, encasing his new vessel. When he arose, reborn, he rebirth his name as well. Though pronounced much the same as his old name, he became Cyning. He did not escape his nature entirely as he hoped, while he had gained a physical shape, he found it foreign and confining and he still needed blood to live. He found himself trapped by matter and a body that required no sleep. Under the tutelage of Miasma and Corvus, and after years of work, he found the means to "melt" his body once more into something familiar. Except... bones no longer held him together, but a deeper connection to blood itself, where he imbued each cell with a fragment of his conscious. Cyning continues to study his nature, seeking to find his purpose and means for existing. He labors constantly to birth a new breed of Blood Constructs like himself and found his passion in medicine and arcane science. With his natural affinity to blood, he found renown as a doctor after years of work and study. There is none in the land that hold such an intimate knowledge of blood, genetics, and blood-borne disease as him, save for the dragons that first brought him life. |
