A P H R O D I T E conceited • powerful • materialistic «- - - - - - - - - - - - - ❖ - - - - - - - - - - - - -» aphrodite fancies herself a god, as her name would suggest. at least she believes herself to be the earthly reincarnation of one. she is indeed a tremendously powerful spirit, but it seems she has forgotten her true origins. aphrodite was a highly exalted angelic messenger, and was granted many gifts due to her diligence. the greatest was the gift of light; she emanated warmth and comfort to those around her. but something made its way inside of her, twisting her very soul. she began to feel unholy things - envy, greed, wrath, pride, vanity. the light that once surrounded her being like a halo was set ablaze. all she brought now was destruction. she was cast out, those who once called her a saint now called her a disgrace. although much was lost when she was sentenced to the mortal realm, they could not douse the flames. in due time, the fire will kill her. there is no escaping this fate, especially not in this mortal shell. non-angelic creatures were never meant to contain such power. the blaze that burns in her eyes will reduce her to ash, eating her from the inside out. as aphrodite becomes more corrupted by her vices, it seems to only burn hotter. if she is able to control her fire, and stop it from swallowing her spirit whole, she will be free. to do so, she would have to give up her obsession with materialistic wealth. she would carry out the rest of her sentence in the mortal body, until such a time that her deeds can be judged - and with a lesson learned - her sins forgiven. but whatever sparked the fire, it is strong. stronger, perhaps, than even her. she has forgotten where she came from. she has forgotten her past, or her purpose. all she sees now are the vices that cost her everything. and she revels in them, as any god would. the corrupted imperial rules a small, but obsessively devout collection of believers. they treat her as they would a deity - gifts of gold, food, apparel, and whatever tickles her fancy. she lives in lushly overgrown ruins, in a beautiful, tropical rainforest paradise. much of her time is spent lounging blissfully in her lavish throne room, amongst her subservient beasts (such as parda and quillrunners). aphrodite is absolutely enamored with the aesthetic beauty of wild felines; her own golden rosettes attesting to this vain fascination. as such, all of her followers either naturally possess or are painted with the markings of these apex predators. stripes, spots, rosettes, she doesn't mind in the least, as long as they are beautiful.
