Biography

Plague Runestone
Rusted Chain
A sprawling city that seems to be climbing up–or perhaps spilling out of?–the Rotrock Rim, split in half by an oozing river of filth and corruption.

Split up into various districts, with the largest areas being the Court’s castlegrounds and the Church’s grand cathedral.

Glass Shards
Residing within the enormous cathedral that looms over the city, the Church is the heart of Cadere, the rotten core it was built around. They worship plague itself; sickness and disease, rot and decay – these are actively prayed to and beloved the way any other congregation would love their gods.

The Church is led by the enigmatic priest Fhtagn, essentially the puppetmaster of the entire city. Very few outsiders ever see him, but members of the Church are graced by his presence and attention often.

Despite their control over Cadere, the Church and its highest authorities prefer to allow the Court to be the “face” of the city, so they can maintain focus on their religious practices and avoid dealing with outsiders.

-
Slimy Tusk
Bonewood Branch
A flooded district that opened up beneath the Cathedral, full of toxins and mutated pests, blanketed in a thick green fog.

Few dragons call this area home anymore, aside from a select few Church members most suited to the poison in the air – or the few simply interested in studying what else can survive here.

-
Plaguebringer Bone Scrimshaw
Singed Webbing
A point high up along the Cathedral’s towers, where the architecture melds with a particularly complex knot of the Rotrick Rim’s own flesh and bone exterior.

Within the Marrow lives a coven of witches in service to the Church, whose magic & rituals largely rely on the use of blood, skin, and bone.

Feisty Poison
Ancestral Incense
A very select few dragons from other flights who have come to accept the Plague as the true power of Sornieth. Each member brings knowledge of & perspective from their own home flights, even as they allow newfound rot and decay to overtake their bodies and minds.

These dragons maintain a smaller chapel within the Court's district, acting as sort of ambassadors between the Church and the rest of Cadere's citizens.

Ceremonial Scythe
Grave Dust
Cadere’s graveyard is almost an entire city district on its own, and as such requires an ever-expanding team of caretakers to watch over the dead. Of course, little respect is actually given to the truly dead of Cadere – the graves here are often dug up and robbed, and that’s if the corpses don’t just dig themselves back up to join the countless undead that call the city home.

The dragons here are also seen as sort of ambassadors between the Court and the Church, and the graveyard itself must be crossed through just to get between the main city’s districts and that of the cathedral.

Brilliant Brass Torc
Weathered Grimoire
In the shadow of the ever-looming cathedral tower, on the opposite end of the city, lies a crumbling castle home to Cadere’s kings and other nobility. While guided by the Church’s rule, the Court serves more as an outward “face” of the city, handling trade and security as well as dealing with visitors and ambassadors.

Guests of honored reputation or high status are usually welcome to stay within the castle for the course of their visit, though some visitors may find the crumbling, twisted halls and bloodstained carpets rather off-putting…

Half-Moon Spectacles
The rest of Cadere beyond the castle walls lies in various states of decay and squalor, but the center of the city appears almost normal with it's lively enough shops and homes.

The few guests that come to the city usually stick to the plaza, and the citizens living here at least... seem friendly enough...?

Up in the highest towers of the castle resides a bloodthirsty circle of nobility, rarely seen outside their tower and certainly never seen during the daytime.

Despite their infrequent appearances to the average court member, they do seem to be quite high up in the chain of command, with their orders given down through the royal guard members.

Leporidae Guise
There is no proper hotel for guests to stay at in Cadere city - instead, guests are most often welcome to sleep in the local theater. If they can tolerate the actors, anyhow.

Their nightly performances are odd, yet oftentimes prophetic; one night's pantomimes become the following day's tragedy.

Beyond the city, scattered across the Plague flight territory, all sorts of outlaws travel across the wasteland - followed by those who seek to bring them justice.

Names mean little here; these folk are largely known only by their titles or occupations, and they all seem to prefer it that way.
