Biography

✗ Not a true known faction, but a nickname given by some to a collection of powerful yet mysterious entities. Thought by some to be gods - of the ocean depths, of dreams, of outer space, of alternate planes of existence, of somewhere in between all these places and concepts - but very little is truly known about these beings, and the rare few who have glimpsed the truth of them dare not share their findings with the world. ✗ Perhaps each school of thought (or even worship) has some small truth to it; few members of the Choir have taken it upon themselves to make their presence known in some form, scattered about the world to seek those who seek them, out of either curiosity or intrigue in a newfound godhood. Leviathans of the deep, angels of the heavens, aliens of the cosmos - all are simply varied forms of the same unknowable and all-powerful entities. |

✗ Dug into the half-rotten, half-crystallized cliffsides of Plague territory overlooking the Starfall Isles, a secret lab is tucked away where a small team of scientists research the so-called Cosmic Choir. ✗ This team has the most real knowledge of the Choir and the eldritch truth behind it, but their exposure to this knowledge - and rare contact with these entities, and subsequent experimentation performed both by and on the researchers - has resulted in alien warping of their bodies and minds. |
Location: Cliffside Plague/Arcane border Allegiance: Knowledge, at any cost Population: Scientists and researchers who found too much |

✗ A collection of arcane scholars who seek endless power, often turning their spiraling library tower into a magical battleground as they test their spells against one another. There is no moral compass to be found amongst any of these mages - any and all society rules about what magic may or may not be forbidden have been thrown out entirely, as the ultimate goal for any member of the Ocularium is simply to have the most magical power and knowledge as possible. ✗ Many members of the Ocularium believe the Cosmic Choir to be gods of dreams and nightmares, which are themselves believed to exist on some some sort of alternate but very much tangible, physical plane. That said, their belief in these supposed gods doesn't necessarily come from a place of worship; they simply see these beings as a challenge, something to aspire to become themselves or powerful beings to defeat someday. |
Location: Southeast Starwood, towards the Frigid Floes Allegiance: Knowledge & Power Population: Wizards & scholars seeking forbidden things |

✗ When a pair of abyssal beasts left the Choir to sink themselves to the bottom of the ocean, the discovery of these leviathans inspired a feverishly devoted cult of aquatic worshipers. So long as they serve these gods and their every whim, members of the Esoteric Order are granted eternal life in the depths of the sea. ✗ Over time, members of the Order have begun to exhibit bizarre aquatic features, sprouting gills and fins and odd patches of scales. Each member embraces their newfound fishy appearances, seeing such adaptations as blessings from their gods - all the better to serve their abyssal deities with. |
Location: Border of Plague/Water territory Allegiance: The abyss Population: Aquatic cultists, fish & sailors |

✗ The Outer Gods are perhaps as mystifying as the Cosmic Choir, but much of this is due to pure deception on their own part. So long as the Choir is seen by so many to be gods of some sort - conflicting as these various doctrines are - entities of the Opera allow themselves to be seen as angels, divine messengers of these celestial beings. ✗ Where the creatures of the Choir are largely uninterested with Sornieth and its denizens, the Opera has much more active malice for mortal beings, desiring only to spread chaos and discordance whenever and wherever they can. Their angelic appearances are meant to gain the trust and awe of the "lucky" few mortals to encounter them, only to manipulate mortals into following along with their schemes. |
Location: ??? Allegiance: ??? Population: Very convincing angel disguises |

✗ The twisted land where the Starwood Strand meets the Wandering Contagion is home to some exceptionally strange creatures, thriving upon both infection and fallout alike. ✗ The Feverfey do not concern themselves with either the Choir nor the great city of Cadere; they're only here to have fun, even if that fun is often of the mischievous nature. |
Location: Border of Arcane/Plague Allegiance: ??? Population: Sickly flora & fauna, infectious tricksters |
