Now established, the ambient energy of the new Hive became steady. The ward, acting as an anchor for the Shade Fae and keeping them grounded in this new world, created a small but stable passage from their world into this one. It was here that they gathered their magic, reproduced, and monitored the veil for any entities passing through.

A bubble formed in the lava pool around the warding dish, growing in size as its membrane grew darker until it hardened into an egg.

OilWings and NightSight descended from the ceiling, curiously eyeing the egg that had spontaneously appeared as Chirp crouched at the side of the pool.

They watched as the shell began to crack, and a new hatchling crawled out into the lava, making its way to Chirp. She gently lifted the tiny black dragon from the lava, looking him over gently.

"Our Hive is stable." Chirp looked up at OilWings and NightSight, who dropped from the ceiling and fluttered around excitedly.

A stable Hive meant new hatchlings from spontaneously generated eggs, and new hatchlings meant they'd successfully integrated into the new world.

"Call Shiver!" Chirp cried. "We must show her! Our efforts have not been in vain... we will survive!"
She held the tiny hatchling to her chest gently as tears of joy formed in her eyes.
