Thy Prince's Shadow  >Theme< - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Careful now." The Kingdom lay beneath them blanketed in a blazing inferno. Ormr watches as flaming projectiles launched from the fields arch through the sky, sailing towards the city, his ears ringing from the battles and cries below. Terror and smoke lay thick in the air and he could taste copper upon his tongue as he inhaled flecks of ash. He switches his focus to his blade and wipes it clean upon the back of his arm, blood smearing across his scales. "It is finally burning." Sovereign whispers softly. Ormr turns to address his charge, noticing how the young Prince's eyes are a dull, pale yellow. No light simmered within his orbs. He could feel his despair, a palpable and viscid layer that had settled upon his silver coat, now smeared and dirty. The Lead-bledden's tail snakes forwards and curls lightly around the Prince. "Yes, it is." "Are you surprised?" "No." Sovereign nods. "My father was foolish and my sister blinded by his praise. Mother tried, but it was all for naught." "You still live, sire." "An unfortunate happenstance." "Perhaps this kingdom shall be reclaimed again." Eleor’s voice sounds behind them both as he steps out onto the terrace. A spark flickers back to life within the child's eyes. "That is a willfully hopeful remark, Commander.” "Yes sire, it is." "My family was slaughtered and their corpses now burn. I possess their blood, but why should I, their sole survivor, return in a pathetic attempt to continue this wretched lineage?" Eleor clears his throat. “The choice lies with you." "And the choice of following me lies with the people. This day only serves to reveal the weaknesses of the Godbledden." The Prince pointedly looks at the city below them, a flicker of emotion briefly crossing his face. "It is time for us to leave, sire. We have lingered for too long." Ormr murmurs, turning to his prince and gently ushering him forwards with his tail as he crouches low. Silently, Sovereign clambers up his right arm and settles between his shoulder blades, fingers clasping tightly at his mane. Rising, the Imperial hums thoughtfully, adding, “However, even those born from the deities' blood have weaknesses." Sovereign murmurs his assent and Ormr leaps from the marble terrace. The Leadbledden dives low, towards the river, before sharply turning left and circling the palace's peak. Eleor follows close behind, just as silent. Together they cross over World's End and bleed away into the night, leaving the kingdom behind to collapse into its new grave.
