Deep in the forest made dim by no breath,
A dragoness lives there, where no one is left.
A cold twining sickness wraps slow past her lungs;
It paints there a mis’ry beyond any tongue.

She dreams slow and deep of a life in the sun,
O radiant, lustrous, a path well to run.
But some fates the gods to turn swift into dust,
And a ill plague still turns her bones into rust.

Lay unjust, dying there, crying out all alone,
Askew and off-kilter on an asphodel throne.
Regret to the grave, as parched feathers droop,
She gave up and let go and thought she was through.

But what calls her back? O hark to the sounds
Of a whisper, a shudder, a shout from a crowd
Of nameless who bid her come back once again,
To rule a domain where no one else can.

So still she remains, plague trapped in her skin;
Where life and death starts is where she will begin.
The card you drew: death, but let not your will fade.
