" Sit yourself down, have some tea, and rethink those life choices. "
Those who visit the Homely Hearts café expect an inviting, warm atmosphere, soothing to the soul; what they don't expect is for the dragon in the kitchen to blithely tell them to close the door before the cold air freezes the entire building. A no-nonsense dragon, Alto doesn't mince his words. He's quick to judge and quicker to lecture. Visitors don't particularly like Alto because of this, but he doesn't care, since the only opinions he cares about are his own and Silas's. Alto was born on the Windswept Plateau to a family of ten. He was a middle child and didn't get a lot of attention as a result. As well, being a middle child made him feel suffocated, having to bear the patronizing personality of his elder siblings and the antics of his younger siblings. He developed a demanding personality in order to assert any dominance in his packed household. When he was old enough to work, Alto took every opportunity to stay out of the house. It was around his time he discovered his penchant for baking, while working as a baker's apprentice. However, he couldn't actively practice his craft, as he later was fired for criticizing the baker he worked under. Following this, Alto went on to do a variety of odd jobs, unable to keep any for long. He met Silas while working as a messenger. The Imperial was working in a tiny tea shop, and had offered the Spiral a cup of tea and a scone he'd baked. Alto gave Silas some criticism regarding his baking, while the Imperial took gladly, promising he'd try again. The next time Alto came around - out of curiosity, as no one had listened to him like that before - Silas gave him another scone, this one a lot better than before. Silas thanked Alto for his help, to which Alto confessed he loved baking, but couldn't. Hearing this, Silas invited Alto to come use their kitchen anytime he liked, a request Alto was only too happy to fulfill. Eventually, the two entered a relationship, and decided to pool their savings and travel to the Southern Icefield to start a business, at Alto's insistence of "braving a new frontier." They came across a place called the Frigusterram, a clan that had recently opened its doors to all travelers, and settled there. As one of the co-owners of Homely Hearts, Alto takes care of the finances, as well as the baking of pastries. INFO Age: 49 years (Approx. 29) Gender: Cis male (he/him) Sexuality/Romanticism: Asexual. RELATIONS SILAS - Alto's first and only friend, and later his boyfriend. Alto acts as a voice of reason and pessimism to Silas's more optimistic nature, helping to ground the Imperial in his decisions. Despite their contrasting perspectives, Alto deeply cares for Silas.
