A dusty cloak billowed in the wind, molding effortlessly around lightly tanned wings as they wove up and down in flight. Winds raged around the Banescale as she steered herself towards home, a sack held in her jaws with the utmost care. Red eyes scoured the ground below her, searching for signs of carrion birds, flashes of white, an unmoving pelt ruffling in the breeze. Her gaze didn't waver until the familiar scent of home invaded her senses. Lowering herself to the ground, the blue ancient shook herself a little before folding her wings. She padded into her den, brushing past numerous white, gleaming spears decorating the entrance and serving as a barrier. She settled down and gently unloaded the sack onto the cave floor. Pulling out skull after skull, bone after bone, she lightly dusted each one off before moving on to the next. Proud eyes lingered on each new piece being added to her collection. She'd been blessed with a good haul today. The only remaining task was to find space for it all. Glancing around her den, she sighed. She'd need a bigger space soon if she kept finding as many goodies as she did today. Eyeing a decently sized flat rock, she scooped up a skull from her pile and shuffled over. Setting the new addition down, she gently nudged an older find to a few inches to the side with her nose. "You can share your space, can't you, Kraven??" She chuckled, both to herself and the remains she spoke to. "Liliana won't take up too much of it." Turning to the next available space, she nestled a femur on top of a dusty old pelt. "You need to share too, Fluffy, you space hog," Although she didn't smile, her eyes were glowing with amusement and love. Little by little, she made the space she needed. Shifting things here, stacking a few things there, a process that only ceased once everything had been fit into its home. She surveyed her collection, eyes betraying every emotion that lay behind her unwavering poker face. She settled down in her nest, watching the sun set and night fall through her cave's entrance. It had been a nice day, and a good haul, and she was content with the outcome. Letting out a pleased sigh, the Banescale let her eyes droop closed and sleep overcome her. |
