Riot Hazebeacon
Necromancer
Wise - Decisive - Reserved

Bryrdym was once one of the Council’s highest ranking warriors. He and his assigned Necroservus repeatedly infiltrated enemy lands to obtain items or knowledge of use to the Council. While his presence was usually unknown, if he was discovered, the bloodshed left in his wake ensured that none would be able to spread word of what happened. The name ‘Necromancer’ came to be feared outside the Scarred Wasteland, and his deeds became stories of legend.

It was after one such violent encounter in the Viridian Labyrinth that Bryrdym suffered a change of heart. No one knows why for sure, but he gave up his position on the Council and became a recluse, taking up residence alone in a hidden den in the Abiding Boneyard. There, he could concentrate on studying the Plaguemother’s gifts and attempting to understand Her plan for him. He had always been talented in mutating infection to achieve his ends, though this talent was not as well-known as his talent for dismemberment, and his contributions in his research continued to help the Council in their missions.

Many aspiring Necromancers sought him out over the years, either to hear about his war days or to learn about the gifts of Plague from him, but he turned all away except for one. Arryn pestered him until he accepted her as his pupil. When she failed to pass her last Trial, earning only the title of Necroservus, he took back his position in the Council and accepted a new mission so that she could be assigned to him.

He was sent to the Viridian Labyrinth to establish contact with clans there and to scout new locations for a diplomatic presence in enemy territory in the wake of the broken armistice.

Though Bryrdym still carries the katana he had become known for on the battlefield, his armor has been replaced by black healer’s robes, and the hazebeacon that follows him lights his way along this new path.

Blades, represented by a Katana: A symbol of purification, nobility, transition, protection, aggression, strength and ability. Necromancers bearing blades can be expected to take on a more active role in their clan. They wield their powers of contagion on the battlefield and in defense of their allies. Often they represent Plaguebringer's desire to conquer and expand and they will urge their clan leaders to push Her plague into new territories.

Lamps, represented by Riot Hazebeacon: A symbol of learning, openness, bravery, exploration, humility, evenhandedness, and wisdom. Necromancers bearing lamps often forgo the traditional role of noble advisor and are more often solitary. Instead of worldly power they seek personal enlightenment, and to guide others along that path. Unlike their sigil-bearing counterparts who seek to spread Plague gospel through domination, these Necromancers are content with a more peaceful missionary role, or that of a solitary sage who leaves others to come to them. In a group that defines itself through its command and nobility, the humble, lamp-bearing Necromancer is a rare creature indeed.
