His youth was spent traveling Sornieth with Hel, dodging local clans and taking advantage of travelers - usually by robbing them blind. He was less enamored with the lifestyle, and more with his partner, whom he literally went to the ends of the world for. It wasn't long before they attracted followers; other Imperials with similar self-indulgent interests. As Hel thrived in her leadership role in the newly-fledged Guild, Demonbreun found himself increasingly disillusioned with its selfish ways. It was with some regret and bitterness that he and Hel parted ways, and Demonbreun sought a more honest and steady life. Where better than in the illuminated lands of the Lightweaver? With his martial talents, it wasn't long before Demonbreun found himself a new clan: a kingdom, even. It still took some time for him to gain audience with the King, however, and even longer to earn a knighthood and a place among the upper echelons of the royal court. The even-tempered Earth dragon, who had been such a beautiful balance to Hel's chaotic and indulgent nature, had the ear of the King in most matters. He acted as a dignitary and a guard, and was considered an invaluable resource. The kingdom was peaceful and diplomatic, and years passed without conflict or strife. However, with that came a breeding of complacency. It was on a cold winter night that the course of Demonbreun's life would change forever. The kingdom rested lazily as chaos broke out in the warm royal quarters. Death came on leathery wings that dark night, and the royal family fell victim to a quick and violent coup. In the mayhem that ensued, Demonbreun was able to dispatch several of the assassins, but not before they had completed their mission. The only surviving royal was the young Yui, whom Demonbreun quickly spirited to away, seeking safety. |

Realizing that the kingdom was no longer safe, he flew; the bewildered heiress curled up in his arms. Flying by night, refuge was found during the day to minimize encounters with others, as Demonbreun made his way to the place he felt was safest - the territories of the Earth clans. -wip- |
